Misaligned zip- how do I fix it?!

The zip on my son’s school coat is totally misaligned & I can’t figure out how to undo it. Anyone know a way to fix it?!

Check it's not snagged on the material and a bit of brute force to pull it down to the right place, you might be able to wiggle it down, just try and see what works. You might be able to pull it up (zipping) and then down again quickly to gain a bit each time and/or to unsnag if it's caught on the material.

Is it actually stuck? Has the zip caught up material in it? If so, gently teasing it may help. Perhaps lubricate it. Conversely, a short sharp jerk may help.

The zip isn’t stuck- I can move it up and down but I can’t undo it as the stopper preventing it being undone. Hope that makes sense.

There are no shortcuts, you have to pull the handle on the zip block thingy all the way down to the bottom of each of the sides of the jacket. It's already at the bottom of one side. You just have to get it to the bottom of the other as well, and separate it and open the jacket.

Look on the inside of the jacket to make sure it's not caught up in material. If so try and free off the material first.

Sometimes it'll be fine afterwards. Sometimes not.
