Wheelchair questions - posting here for traffic

We use a manual wheelchair for adult DS which we struggle with (ramps, sloping ground etc) so looking into power packs. NHS not helpful so searching online it appears that once fitted u can't fold the wheelchair to put in the car and dismantling it didn't appear to need any tools.

But I have seen recently someone using a similar wheelchair with a power pack and the attendant older lady easily managed to fold it. At the time we were still awaiting the assessment so didn't think to approach them.

Anyone has experience of the added power packs? DS can't drive it himself so it's not about a motorized wheelchair.

Another question I have is whether it's easier to push a wheelchair with a big back wheels than a smallish ones.

I think you could check with Scope or one of the other charity advice lines.

In terms of cars, I know you can get cars that allow the wheelchair user to remain in their chair, and have a ramp and winch to pull the chair onboard.

I don't know where you live but there's a company that rents adapted cars with ramps, www.adaptedvehiclehire.com if you want to try one. We found it quite useful.
