We are currently facing homelessness and have been having terrible trouble with our local council but that’s a whole story on its own.
To cut a very long story short, we have been nominated for a housing association house and have completed all the checks and the housing association has offered us the property. It is a new build so won’t be ready for a few weeks at which point we will view and sign the tenancy on the day.
Since being accepted the status on the councils bidding site has changed for that property to skipped (offered and other property) we have now been contacted by another housing association for a property which we were originally skipped for due to suitability which was agreed with head of housing.
I am now worried that the council will ask the housing association to cancel our offer meaning we will lose the house they have accepted us on. I have tried to ask the council what has happened and why we have been accepted for a property and now the status has changed and we have been offered another one despite passing all the checks and being offered the first one but no one seems to know and they have told me to email instead however they take forever to reply.
i am wondering whether once checks have been completed and you are offered the property if they can actually then withdraw the offer and ask the housing association to do the same or is it more likely to be an error or lack of communication?
