Anyone wear contact lenses? Right eye only can't tolerate them

Any contact lenses wearers here? I wore contact lenses for 12 years with no issue! But for the past few years, whenever I wear them, I get a dry, itchy, gritty, 'foreign body sensation' in my right eye within 20 minutes! It gets worse and worse despite me applying eye drops. My left eye feels totally fine. I wear daily senses and the optician said I've got the best quality daily ones!

I saw an eye doctor about this a few months back after wearing them for a day and he said there was some scratching on my eye from wearing the lens, as well as something about my tear film not secreting very much and the "break up time" of my tear film was too quick. (I am not sure if this was in both eyes or just the right).

I don't mind wearing glasses but I would like to be able to wear lenses occasioanally without discomfort.

Has anyone had something similar?

Sometimes I've not been able to wear my right contact lense.
The first time I had the problem, many years ago, my right eyeball was swollen up for quite a period of time and I couldn't wear a lense in it. My optician didn't have a clue what was wrong with it. Then I discovered, by chance, mainly because the skin on my face started to become itchy and uncomfortable, that I had an allergic reaction to some perfumed skin care product I'd started using. I stopped using the skin care product and switched to the Simple range and after a few days my skin was OK and my eye ball went back to it's normal size and I could wear a lense in it.Since then I'm very careful the products I use and have occasionally had a similar problem, but I know what to look out for now.
I also find if I have a cold or hay-fever it also affects my right eye and it's itchy and gritty and I can't wear a lense . It's always just my right eye, never my left.

Since I started wearing lenses - about 50 years ago, I've always been warned that I don't secrete very much in the way of tears. I used to get told to blink a lot. But now I use " artificial tears" as required when my eyes are dry.
I don't wear my lenses generally for long periods of time - I always wear glasses in the house.
I don't know if this is of any help to you OP but at least you know you aren't the only one with a temperamental right eye!
