Not all employers are so strict and limited, and they're risking discounting good candidates if they do.

If you're looking for a job now would be a good time as you could probably start in the new year for vacancies that are around now.

We've had a push for a good (interesting with good career development, security and pension but Mumsnet would probably discount as starting pay isn't great) graduate trainee role for the last two years with a few recruitment campaigns and people have stated at all times of year depending when they graduated, finished PhDs or could leave other jobs.

When someone graduated or could start hasn't even been a consideration for anyone with the right general education and potential as it's very specialist.

Some grad schemes have January or flexible entry, so you apply a year in advance or by whatever their cut off date is. Or get a place on a September start grad scheme and do casual/temp work for the 8 or 9 months after your Masters while waiting for that to start.
