Hi all,

I'm not looking for a diagnoses as have already been referred on the 'two week wait' to the Dermatology dept. Blummin pain as I was there on Monday for something on leg, that they will scrape off (yum!).

I'll attach a pic of my gnarly little toe...

It wasn't there in August (holiday). I asked how sudden these things can appear and gp dermatology specialist said sometimes within weeks...

I'm keeping calm but head all over place as I've been so unwell in last 3 years, low immune system, picking up any infection, at one point I was given a 2 month course of antibiotics. I've had several weekly courses. I've had scans on lymph nodes - thankfully all clear. Random lumps on shoulder... I could go on.

Can I ask though, has anyone had something appear like this within say - 2 months?

Sorry to hear you're still waiting - it must feel like torture. Did they give you any idea on when you might hear back?

What a pain about the stitches popping - hope it all heals soon!

zingally · 02/12/2024 16:47

Chillblains?

Possibly? I get them from time to time when it's particularly cold (once you've had them, you're more prone to them in the future). They are a bit dark though.

LifeEdit · 02/12/2024 17:48

You poor thing-you must be very worried and imagining horrible scenarios.
Like you, I had a procedure on the two week pathway and the consultant told me they would be surprised if it was anything serious.

The secretary then phoned, three weeks later, to ask me to come in the following day to see the consultant. I did need some treatment and I found it very very difficult to wait for the results.

The results of that were not as bad as they could have been but I will never forget that waiting period.

I am sending you my example as a case where I felt on the ground, was afeared and now here I am typing this, getting into rows on AIBU and looking forward to Christmas. I hope it will be the same for you and I send best wishes to you.

Ahh thank you so much.

Once the biopsy has been done, I felt a huge weight lifted, or so I thought. My whole toe is now pretty much unzipped and gaping. I won't put a picture as it's minging. I was straight onto antibiotics, so not worried about that - yet!

I appreciate people have had bigger biopsies, bigger wounds, and I'm well aware that I'm moaning - but I honestly can't see how will heal. I try my best to weight bear elsewhere but, it's impossible.

Moan moan moan.

Sorry I will post a pic, apologies in advance! I'll see if I can put a filter thingy on it.

Yep, still waiting on results. He did say if he me again, it would mean he'd have to take more... Just have the toe!

Sorry moaning.

Ouch op, that’s looking nasty. Is it painful? The good news is it does look clean and uninfected!

Wolfiefan · 05/12/2024 08:12

Oh OP that looks so very painful. If you called 111 do you think they would direct you to someone who would actually sort it out?

TheSandgroper · 05/12/2024 08:26

If that was me, I would be packing it with good honey (I live in the land of good honey) or comfrey or something else known to encourage healing.

Putting that photo onto https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/sporner_corner might get some useful advice.

A family member with a very recent history of having confirmed melanoma on various parts of her body suddenly developed a large, very unpleasant looking patch in her arm.
Of course we all expected the worst, including doctor. Turned out to be a weird form of eczema, nothing sinister.
Try to not overthink it. As hard as that is.

FloofPaws · 05/12/2024 09:43

Oooww that looks ouchy, and on the toe too 🥺 everything crossed for a negative result ... no news is good news though and I'm sure they red flag any histology that needs urgent action ... well that's always my first thought when having had any tests/MRI etc that they'd push the admin to the front of the queue and get you in quickly
With regard to the toe - you need to get everyone to wait on you and peel grapes/serve you tea and wine 🤣

OchAyeTheN00 · 05/12/2024 18:28

Honestly OP that’s not bad at all. You can try using an inadine dressing to reduce the risk of infection, but that’ll heal in a few weeks. You’ll just have a big ass scar.

Turbulent1 · 06/12/2024 07:28

Good luck OP,
The n my experience 2 weeks is average for histology it is such a painful wait
Steri strips are good for these things too

Turbulent1 · 15/12/2024 03:40

Hey, how are going? Hope you are ok

SnoopySantaPaws · 15/12/2024 04:21

Hey, how's the little one doing? They're small but important & he's a cutie!!

have they got back to you yet??

I went on the two week pathway. I had gone to the GP about a patch of skin on my nose that kept going dry, then getting a bit better than dry again. I suspected melanoma.

he referred me to dermatology about that, but with a very worried look referred me for a 'thing' on my shoulder..

I got the appointment for 3 days time (so I was a bit panicked at the speed. He gave me some cream for my nose, which I wasn't expecting as he'd confirmed melanoma. Then said there was a space in surgical bit to have the biopsy done on my arm - did I want to do it now or schedule an appointment. I went ahead & got it done, they said it was 'all good' took out quite a chunk of my shoulder. Said it was 'all gone'. So I didn't give it another thought. About 2-3 weeks later I got a letter saying it was x blah blah (can't remember) but to advise it was benign, so nothing more needed doing.

i didn't know I had been supposed to be worrying about it.

A bit stupid of me, but the least scary 🤣🤣🙄🙄

xx

Hello

Just hoping for an update on how you are? Xx

JanglingJack · 01/01/2025 09:27

Hi all,

Thank you for your messages and so sorry for not updating, I know it's really annoying!
I was trying to just keep it from my mind over Christmas and that included blanking this thread. I had an early Christmas (thankfully!) with family and Grandaughter before her and her Mum moved house. Then on the 18th I was just hit completely with some sort of virus. It's brought out Shingles too for the second time. I spent all of Christmas alone from 18th to 28th! My teen daughter and adult son went over to my Mums on the day and she's been between there and her Dad's. She came home for 2 nights and went back for NYE - he only lives 5 mins away so it's not a problem.
Saw GP Monday, too late for anti virals for Shingles, but got antibiotics as dry cough has turned chesty and infected.

And... No news on the biopsy 😭. I'm heading back to bed now as still wiped out.

I'm sorry I don't have any cheery news - but here's to a happy and healthy 2025 to all of us! Xx

Oh, also the wound has all dried over now. It looks a mess, to be expected! It's still sore to walk on, but I guess that's to be expected too due to depth.
I'll upload a pic in due time, funnily enough it looks like somebody's gouged a chunk out of my toe and it's gone all scabby 😂

Jaapssthia · 01/01/2025 09:37

My brother had something like that on his toe. It was a talon noir, completely harmless. I hope you get your results soon.

SensibleSigma · 01/01/2025 09:43

Gosh, bless you! You are having a hard run. Are you able to take some time to really look after yourself, rebuild your immunity? Lots of rest, vitamins, good food etc? It’s so easy to run on empty, then have little left when the shit hits the fan.

Meadowfinch · 01/01/2025 09:45

OP, you sound pretty run down. Perhaps your NY resolution should be to try to boost your immune system. Time to look after yourself better.

Cut out stress - cut hours or change job?
Get more sleep
Up your veggie intake to 30 different veggies a week.

I hope things get better.

Nosebandage · 01/01/2025 09:51

Oh love - it sounds like you’ve really been through the mill on this. Just wanted to say that I think dermatology results to seem to take ages. I had a suspected BCC removed from my nose in mid October and still haven’t had results. A colleague had melanoma on his scalp and waited a similarly long time for confirmation. None of this helps your worries, I know, but it’s not unusual.

Wolfiefan · 01/01/2025 09:58

Oh OP you’ve had a rubbish time. Hope you feel much better soon. And fingers crossed for good news from the biopsy.

Enough4me · 01/01/2025 10:30

OP I really hope you have a turning point in your health soon!
Plan for some nice achievable things for in a few weeks and best wishes for 2025 x

Enough4me · 05/01/2025 22:26

Any updates OP?

JanglingJack · 07/01/2025 19:52

Hi all,

Thank you for your messages. I have read and taken comfort from them. The antibiotics have worked and I'm feeling on the up. Looking forward to going food shopping and adding vitamins to the trolley too.
We don't eat at all badly - daughter and I. Everything is homemade, in our house the usual fayre is spicy tuna bolognese - tinned tuna, but all tomato sauces from scratch with onions, garlic, chilli's and dried herbs.
Curries, the same, usually chicken with potato and carrots but sauce - fried onions, garlic, tinned Tom's, spices.

Anyway, I received a voicemail this morning to say the surgeon Dr S wants to see me this coming Monday - 13th.

He'd itterated that I'd only have to see him again if I needed more removed, or to discuss a next stage. He said I'm sure it won't be a problem and you'll get a letter in due course.

So yes, fuck... Here I go again.

I don't want to!!!!! 😭😭😢😢😭
