Liam Payne - three men arrested

Sandygoldenbeaches · 08/11/2024 11:33

Three men have been arrested in connection with Liam Paynes death.

One was a hotel worker, one was a drug dealer.

It seems they arrested the third man for abandoning Liam Payne, who subsequently died.

Interesting.

At least they are taking the investigation seriously anyway.

What's your thoughts?

Where do you stand if an adult (albeit one who may be under the influence of drink/drugs) is actively telling you to go away, leave them alone? I'm not suggesting that this was the case here, although it may have been, but how much can one person be expected to put themselves in peril (being attacked etc) if the other person doesn't want anyone with them?

SleepQuest33 · 08/11/2024 13:38

Oblomov24 · 08/11/2024 12:31

This all seems ridiculous. He made his choices. Arresting 3, for what exactly? Like @TallulahBetty I'm asking : "What crime does 'abandoning' come under?". How is any of things going to stick, be prosecuted. It won't. What a load of nonsense, surely?

I wish the entire world would be more strict about charging drug dealers and anyone who helps obtain or facilitate drugs in any way! Perhaps then the scourge of drugs would eradicated.

drugs dealers are murderers and life destroyers by proxy.

TallulahBetty · 08/11/2024 13:47

This is all total bullshit.

They didn't abandon him; they took him to his room and called the emergency services.

What were they supposed to do, while he was kicking off under the influence? Try to calm him down or restrain him?

I feel sorry for his family and the hotel staff (the ones that didn't supply drugs). No one else.

TallulahBetty · 08/11/2024 13:48

Sandygoldenbeaches · 08/11/2024 12:32

Youre not allowed under law to abandon someone who's life is at severe risk.

They didnt, though. They call the emergency services.

Oblomov24 · 08/11/2024 13:48

Who said he had a fit? Where did that bit of info come from?
Who saw him having a fit? When?

Receptionist called 911, twice, for help. Because 'he was off his head on drugs and destroying everything' in his room. He then went down to the foyer. Staff asked him to return to his room. Then he fell. Receptionist dialled 911 for the second time, saying that only an ambulance, was now required.

The friend had left the hotel 40 minutes earlier.

I can't see that anyone has done anything wrong and so no one can be charged with anything.

Do you feel sorry for the hotel staff member that gave him the drugs?

Just because a person is a hotel staff member doesn't make him an angel

OK then, the INNOCENT hotel staff. Better?

If you're a business though, you have a repsonisbilty for people's wellbeing and safety.

So say if a teenager did the go ape tree outdoor circuit in the UK (where you climb a circuit through trees)
had a heart attack and the go ape company failed to call an ambulance for an hour or whatever, I'm sure they would be charged with leaving an accident/causing death

Edited

Or maybe, they knew he had a fit, went to help, but he was aggressive and uncontrollable when he came round. Maybe the safest thing to do for the majority of staff and people was to get him back in a room, maybe they tried a different room but he refused?

Honestly, in that scenario, you wouldn't risk getting yourself injured or attacked. I highly doubt hotel staff are trained in restraining people in that situation. They did call emergency services.

Sandygoldenbeaches · 08/11/2024 13:56

Yeah just to clarify.

When I started the thread , I thought a hotel worker had been charged with the abandonment charge. As it alluded to that on a report that I saw.

Since then , more clarification has come out. And it is not the hotel worker that has been charged with abandonment.

The hotel worker has been charged with supplying drugs to Liam. That's for sure.

It seems like it is is a man that was liam's companion that was charged with abandonment. However it doesn't say it the man was a friend or a paid employee of Liams

Drug dealers are scum and deserve whatever they have coming. But he was an adult who chose to indulge in drugs and alcohol, and, according to reports, was acting in so a violent manner that hotel staff had to call emergency services. I don't see that hotel staff nor anyone else should be held accountable for the choices he made. If someone was acting in that manner around me, I wouldn't take the risk of staying with them either.

I don't even understand all the sympathy for him TBH. I've read things about his "poor MH" being about a relationship breakdown where he sounds frankly to have be stalking/harassing his ex from what I've read. Maybe she was witholding access to the DC but given his aparent love of drink/drugs I'm guessing she's right to, if so. It seems like all the handwringing about his death is primarily because he was famous. Would society care about any other, what seems to be, deadbeat dad fucked up on drink/drugs who died?

My sympathy is with his family and friends who have lost a loved one.

Yeah he definitely wasn't perfect.

However the ex that accused him of harassing and stalking her went on to write a book about him. It has lots of very private details about him

If he was harassing her, why would she write a book to get more attention and make money from it.

I know this wasn't aimed at me but I maybe do, a bit, depending on the circumstances. I imagine hotel staff are put under considerable pressure to provide various rich and famous dickheads with illegal things fairly often and with a threat to their job if they don't comply. If that's the case here, then yes they have my sympathy a bit. Only a bit because they still shouldn't have done it.

It wasn't his ex that he had a child with, that called him abusive

He had a child with Cheryl Cole. She never called Liam Payne abusive, and she let him see the child frequently.

The ex that called him abusive, Maya Henry, he had no children with her

Well I don't know her obviously, but it's conceivable she could have thought it cathartic/revenge/that the fucker owed her and the book was her compensation? Not every victim skulks in the shadows licking their wounds, some fight back.

I agree that being a hotel staff member is a bit dangerous, depending on where you are.

Its Dangerous for the staff, and dangerous for the tourists that stay there

I stayed in a hotel in Mexico once. And one of the hotel workers socialised with us after his job.

He told me that the hotel was ran by someone with mafia connections and a lot of the hotel workers were in on drug rackets and made money out of targeting tourists and giving them drugs . If you as a hotel worker there didn't want to do it, you could probably get in big trouble with someone

Yeah I agree he may have been extremely abusive to her. And she may just want to speak out on it after

However None of his other exes , or his most recent girlfriend, have called him abusive

So sometimes I do think that there is two sides to a story.

We dont know. I don't know if he was abusive to her or not.

People with drink and drug addictions are usually using those substances to blot out other MH issues such as depression and anxiety. Addiction also tends to run in families where certain types of genes are linked with certain forms of addiction. Early exposure to stress in various forms can also play a part. It's not all down to willpower.

If you feel sympathy for his family, maybe we should all delay criticism at least until the poor bloke is buried.

Sandygoldenbeaches · 08/11/2024 14:27

I saw something interesting about his ex.

She was giving an interview, prior to liams death. She was just about to release a book about him.

In the interview, she said that a friend of liam paynes rang her , and he said:

"Are you sure you want to put the book out . Liams in a really bad place, and if you put this book out about him, and something happens to him, everyone is going to blame you, and you are going to blame yourself"

He may not have been abusive to the current girlfriend at that point, or she may not feel like she needs to share that.
He may not have been abusive to Cheryl, as the balance of power in that relationship may have been different.
He might not have been on drugs with other partners.
But that partner had enough evidence to start a lawsuit against him (from what I've read).

He seems like he was a troubled young man who was going off down the wrong path at that time. Whoever supplied him with drugs- it seems obvious from the outside he was taking them of his own violition. Whoever was meant to be with him, may have been not with him for a reason. He maybe waited until they had an afternoon off to get absolutely off his tits. He may have threatened violence to get away from them. Or sent them on an errand for him. Or a million other options. They may be being charged with abandonment for leaving him one time, when they've sat there the six other times that week and been witness to whatever he's done, and they've had enough for one night.

The article also says the authorities have decided it wasn't suicide. However, what that means in broader terms we don't know- because he fell by accident, because he started that night with no intention of suicide, because you can't actively choose suicide when you are that far under the influence of drugs? I don't know. It's very sad he died, but the majority of responsibility seems necessary to go on his own actions, whatever circumstances have brought him there.

I read in a news report at the time. Another guest said it.

Did anyone else see it?

That was just after Liam died. They interviewed a guest, and he said that Liam was having a fit in reception.

Does anyone else remember seeing that?

I'll have to go and look through the news reports to find it
