What gift card would you choose?

I've won an award at work which comes with a prize of a £250 gift card of my choosing!!

I am over the moon but I feel like a bit of a fraud as I only work 2 days per week as a lot of my team are full time 😂

Anyway, I can't decide what I want the voucher for?! My husband says treat myself but I'm tempted to get something we can all benefit from like a weekend away etc. we have 2 children 7&3.

What would you choose 🙂

Weekend away. Experiences over stuff every time.

A supermarket?

Food, Clothes, Toys

Abit of everything?

ilovecatsmorethancheese · 07/11/2024 18:03

John Lewis would be my choice.

Ragamuffin8 · 07/11/2024 18:03

Gemporia - I’d get myself a piece of jewellery to remind me of the award.

WanaBeMillionaire · 07/11/2024 18:05

How about where you do your weekly food shop for? Then you have more time to decide, then voucher will always be used and when you've decided you can just put the money towards it you would have spent on food?

Congratulations by the way!

ApolloandDaphne · 07/11/2024 18:05

John Lewis for me too.

Anjo2011 · 07/11/2024 18:12

John Lewis or M&S . Congratulations!

mindutopia · 07/11/2024 18:18

What are your options? I’d go for somewhere you shop regularly. Tesco or Amazon. Then you can use that money for essentials and bank savings for a special treat then you aren’t tied to somewhere that will do a gift card or having to decide right away.

watchuswreckthemic · 07/11/2024 18:21

I did Amazon but regretted it as it just went on household stuff, if it happened again I'd go for jewellery.
And congratulations!

Mill3nnial · 07/11/2024 18:23

Is there anything you want or need? If so I'd go for that. An Amazon voucher to buy a robovac, John Lewis for some goodies to treat yourself or gifts or shoes / clothes. You can do a personal shop at JL for free and just pay for what you buy.

I recently used a £200 John Lewis voucher I won to replace a gadget that had broken

I think I would go for M&S for Christmas food and gifts.

Mill3nnial · 07/11/2024 18:23

I previously used a John Lewis voucher on a Dyson hair dryer

Rainydaysandsundays13 · 07/11/2024 18:25

I think an experience/weekend away/spa with just DH. "Stuff " gets forgotten but memories last 😊 also, nice to be able to tell colleagues about it, rather than "I bought a Kettle, perfume and towels" 😂
You'll always remember the award by the memory you have if you do something nice.

Some great ideas! Thanks so much everyone!!
I would love a new good quality winter coat so might have a look into that too 🙂

Amazon vouchers. You can literally buy anything on Amazon including vouchers for other places so that once you decide you can split the voucher to use for different things.

HS1990 · 08/11/2024 05:07

One4all is a good choice. Allows use in multiple high street stores.

WorriedMillie · 08/11/2024 05:20

Echo one4all, or if you do want to spend it on a weekend away, ask for vouchers for a supermarket that you use and spend the money you’ve saved on shopping on a hotel :)
enjoy!
