Stupid question about precooked chicken

drippingtapp · 07/11/2024 16:01

If I use precooked chicken pieces to make a soup (I know it's not the best but it's going in a 30 min soup maker for ease) can I reheat the soup tomorrow?

I'm not sure as obviously the chicken has been cooked, then I would reheated it in the soup maker, then cook and reheat again?

Sorry I know it's a stupid question but I'm no chef Blush

I personally would reheat it without even questioning it. Or you could heat some of the precooked chicken and add to the portion you have today and then do the same with the portion you have tomorrow but that makes it all more complicated

LIZS · 07/11/2024 16:13

Would only reheat once , to a piping hot temperature,

I would only ever reheat once.

Stupid answer, but if it's going to be cooked for 30 minutes, why not buy a raw chicken breast and chop it up? Then re-heat as much as you want at a time.

RamblasTapas · 07/11/2024 17:16

I wouldn't!

Why not just use fresh chicken, cooked chicken isn't going to be nice after 30 mins mire cooking.

Why would raw enable re-heating when cooked wouldn’t?

Edited

Because you'd be reheating it not reheating it twice

SauvignonBlonk · 07/11/2024 17:24

Raw chicken would be on its second heat up once the soup is made.
cooked chicken is on its second heat up when the soup is being made.
Not a good idea to go for heat up number three.

I can't really explain, but I can't manage raw meat at all. I am happy to use pre prepared chicken for this.

Thanks, this is what I usually do, I was just trying to figure out why I don't just add it when cooking, wondered if it's not safe or just me being weird!

I'm not able to. I wouldn't put the chicken in for the whole 30 minutes, I think i worded the OP badly Blush

I'd reheat it again.

But if you don't want to, I'd make the soup without the chicken, and then just mix in a portion of cooked chicken each time you heat a bowl of it up.

LIZS · 07/11/2024 19:16

I assumed it was leftover chicken you had cooked. Tbh I wouldn't use precooked cold supermarket chicken as it is full of additives and an odd texture which would affect the soup.

So? If it’s thoroughly heated the first time when it’s made into soup, then chilled promptly, heating the soup again later isn’t going to be a problem.

I use it all the time, it's fine for me.
