High pitched noise from floor lamp - is it the bulbs or the lamp?

Son is most probably ASD and very sensitive to noises. Our floor lamp in the living room does emit a high pitched noise which I can hear, and it drives him mad. I don't bother putting the light on now, but that corner does need a lamp. Do I need particular bulbs to stop this? Or is it a defective lamp?

Bulb may be in the way out. However I'd also see if it's the plug socket itself, try plug something else in, phone charger etc and see if it's the electrics themselves

It only seems to be the lamp as there are other things plugged in which are fine. I suppose what I'm asking is, if I buy a new lamp, will it just do the same thing? Do I need to source the olden days incandescent bulbs from somewhere?

It's the lamp.

I have one that does the same but my sister just bought a brand new one and it's silent. Both are from IKEA but mine's about 6 years old!

I sometimes find that using a non-dimmable bulb in a light with a dimmer, or vice versa, makes it buzz. I’d try a different type of bulb before anything more drastic.

Could be that then @QuestionableMouse as ours is also IKEA and probably around the same age! Looks like a trip out for a long crocodile, some unnecessary candles and a hot dog 👌
