Celebs where you don’t expect to see them

I did a drivers awareness course today, one of the online courses where the group joins via teams or whatever it is. You only see everyone’s face and first name.
Anyway, there was one participant that after a while of thinking she was familiar, I realised she’s a TV presenter. I’m certain it was her, but if it wasn’t then this woman with the same name shares an uncanny resemblance.

I don’t spot many celebs where I live so it was quite exciting to be sharing a space with one. Even if it was that particular space. She seemed very pleasant.

Ever had any random celeb spots like that?

Pete Postlethwaite in the Co-op (he was buying bread).

Ronnie Corbett coming out of a bookies in Crystal Palace.

John Snow at a village fete (he's a very tall bloke).

Geoff Capes walking down the road (biggest man I have ever seen in my life).

I don't know why but the Robbie Corbett one made me laugh

Louis Theroux and family in the maze at Cliveden.

And then again in the maze two minutes later

And then again in the maze another two minutes later

And so on and so on

All of us increasingly pissed off each time

Christopher Biggins and Lesley Joseph at the theatre together, about four rows in front of me.

He was laughing extra loudly so that everyone noticed him.

I used to work in Brent Cross Shopping centre in London and we had regularly celebs shopping there.
I can still remember and recall :
Emma C with Jade
Liam G with his ex wife
Angela Griffin
Geri Halliwel
Rachel Stevens with her mum
Cheryl Cole
David Grey
Blue (seen them very often especially Anthony and Duncan)

They are all people doing normal peoply staff…

I was at school with someone who is now famous and she was married to a very famous tv personality. She has knocked 5 years of her age

One of DH's friends used to work at Harvey Nicks. He asked Mary J Blige what school she went to, because he knew her from somewhere.

Many years ago now I was in a local nightclub with my friends and lost them at some point through the night.

I saw people queuing not too far from the bar so just joined the queue and the next thing I knew I'm sitting beside Michael Greco and he gives me a kiss on the cheek and a signed photo. I didn't even like Eastenders but he was lovely. 😁

I saw Courtney Love and her Pomeranians in remote woods in Oxfordshire - it was so weird as I never see anyone but occasional, local dog walkers there.

FelixtheAardvark · 07/11/2024 13:48

Carole Middleton and Pippa in a Farm Shop in Berkshire

Lenny Henry in a queue at a bank near Liverpool Street (he did not look a happy punter, BTW).

It was opposite a shop where my Mum worked. Apparently, you could set your watch by him. 10.30 am every morning. Loved the horses, apparently.

A celeb lives in my small town. At first it was weird seeing them in the coffee shop, or out walking (always fusses my dogs) but they do a weekly online thing and its odd when they are talking about things going on in town. But then I went to see them playing at a v small local venue and that was just bizarre to see someone you normally see in Tescos up on stage

Have told this story before... In 1995 I went to Christies in London to see some Lowrys being auctioned... After they had been sold there was a change of people in the audience. I was gazing round the room when a man in the row in front of me caught my eye and smiled... I smiled back thinking he looked very handsome.. Then I realised that he had two different coloured eyes so I looked again
... It was David Bowie and he was most amused when I slid down my chair in shock...! I didnt get my programme signed for fear of bidding on an expensive painting!!

I saw Jimmy Carr on an escalator in the Oracle shopping centre in Reading.

Chatted with Peter Duncan of Blue Peter fame in Ask Italian in Northampton while waiting for a table. Really friendly nice man. Even came to our table to say goodbye when he left!

A friend sat next to Lenny Henry on a train. Said he smelt amazing.

Timmy Mallet's wife at Weightewstchers.

Tim Brooke Taylor in the chemist.

Wendy Fry and Lorraine (can't remember her surname - Scottish tv presenter) in local grocery store (not together).

Ulrika Jonson in the chemist.

All many years ago now.

Dickula · 07/11/2024 15:13

Hugh Jackman (think that's the right name - I get my Hughs mixed up) buying a ready cooked chicken in Waitrose.

Dickula · 07/11/2024 15:14

This thread is jogging lots of memories! Phil from east Enders in a lift at st Mary's hospital, Paddington.

Dickula · 07/11/2024 15:21

Vernon (married to Tess Daly) in the queue in front of me at the turkey farm, collecting his Christmas turkey!

xsquared · 07/11/2024 15:54

Ben Crompton, who played Eddison Tollet from GOT and Shanker in Strike, at the Great North Run.
I was getting a pizza with a club mate, who is friends with him, and when he came over, I got "Alright pet" from him.

I spotted Noel Gallagher walking past in Picadilly Circus. No entourage or anything.

I've spotted John Hannah a few times in Richmond and another time cycling near Hampton Court.

Fluffmum · 07/11/2024 17:51

MP Jeremy Thorpe in economy class on a flight to Nairobi in the 80s

I worked at a bar in a uni in central London. One of our regulars was a miserable looking bloke who would sit and nurse a (microwaved) veggie pasty and a pint of a lunchtime. He skipped a day once, and I asked Ian, the bar manager where he was.

"Who are you talking about?", asked Ian - we had a lot of regulars

"The bloke that looks the spitting image of Jonathan Porritt" (famous Green politician in the 1980s)

"Well, I've no idea where he is, but that is actually Jonathan Porritt you're serving"

Nannylovesshopping · 07/11/2024 17:55

Richard and Judy strolling through selfridges, Vaness Feltz outside Hamleys toy shop, who said you’re staring! True I was, and my favourite of all, Rafa Nadal, in Palma airport, he’d just won the French open, I completely and utterly swooned when he smiled at me❤️

BatshitCrazyWoman · 07/11/2024 18:00

Hermione Norris in a plastic surgeon's consulting rooms in Harley Street.

Mary Portas walking down the road in Mayfair.

Not particularly 'celebs' 😂

StuckHurtDone · 07/11/2024 18:07

When I moved to where I live now I thought it was a quiet unassuming place…. I see David beckham in the local fish and chip shop, Simon Cowell is here at least once a month with his family, Amanda Holden is a regular in one of the local pubs. It still takes me by surprise!

lindyloo57 · 07/11/2024 18:08

I don't know her name, it was the lady in dinner ladies i think she played the boss, she came in where I worked i fitted her for a bra, she told me it was the most comfortable bra she had brought, better than the famous shop in London.
