Hi

does anyone put their lamp on in the later afternoon/early evening? It’s so grey and depressing right now :(

I use mine throughout the day at my desk. It does mean I'm using it far beyond the minimum recommended, but it works for me. I've needed it since before the clocks changed. This makes about 12yrs of SAD lamps and I have no idea how I'd survive without it

I just use mine first thing. Placebo or not, it works for me and wouldn't be without it.
My worry about using it later would be that I wouldn't sleep later that night? Not sure where I got that from.

@BigBundleOfFluff yes that’s my worry but it’s just soo grey outside and my indoor lights just aren’t cutting it

I use mine all day. Using it in early-mid evening doesn't have a detrimental effect on my sleep.

On the contrary, I think that a mid-evening switch to low light helps my internal clock, similar to how a hot bath before bed helps your body to cool down afterward and go into sleep mode.

@skilpadde do you mean you can set yours to lower? I have a lumie vitamin l and it seems to only have one setting

No, sorry, mine also has one brightness setting. What I meant was that when I turn it off mid-evening, and just have low-brightness table lamps on, it's a signal to my body that I'm going to bed in a few hours. Using a SAD lamp for many hours a day hasn't ever had a detrimental effect on me.
