Menorca summer ‘25

Starting to look at holidays for next year. We haven’t been on a ‘proper’ package holiday for years. We do a lot of camping. Here and last year amazing European campsites!

There are some pretty reasonably priced holidays to Menirca. Also the short flight is appealing.
we have 3 girls -5/13/16

we like sea swimming, largish place to walk round in evening, maybe some local nice walks (me and the eldest) we would probably go on a bus to to another place a couple of times (so bus service handy!), a water park another day. Beach days. We don’t sit in bars drinking all evening.

which resort/town would you suggest?

budget?

AwakeNotThruChoice · 06/11/2024 08:48

@flipdiddle81 I am just wanting recommendations of areas to stay in. Not actual hotels/apartments.
Most areas seem to have a range of budget to more expensive accommodations.
just need to decide which places to look!
thanks :)

I went to cala galdana last May with dh and 9yo dd.
We all enjoyed it, lots of walking if you want it, beautiful safe horseshoe bay beach with white sand and shallow clear water, lots of restaurants. I cant speak about the bus or water parks as we had a very lazy holiday and only stayed in the local area.

AwakeNotThruChoice · 06/11/2024 09:47

The places that have popped up in our budget are:
Arenal den Castell
Punta Prima
son bou
cala n Bosch
playa de Fornells
santo Tomas
Cala Galdana

We went to Cala N Bosch this Summer and loved it. Plenty of restaurants to choose from, a bus stop opposite our hotel and my husband went on a long walk one day and met us afterwards for lunch. We will definitely be back!

AwakeNotThruChoice · 06/11/2024 10:05

@Flumpywoo oh thanks! I will take a look!

@AwakeNotThruChoice did you book anywhere in the end?

AwakeNotThruChoice · 08/12/2024 16:36

I did…
I booked some apartments in Arenal d’en Castel.
the beach looks gorgeous with a wooden walkway behind, rocks for snorkelling etc.
places to walk and a bus stop!

just have to wait 9 months now :)

Sounds perfect. I'm sure you'll love Menorca. We definitely want to go back, so might do in 2026 as wanted to try somewhere new next year. Have the best time and hopefully 9 months fly by!

ScoobyDoesnt · 08/12/2024 16:54

I was going to say Arenal - you’ll love it! The beach is lovely, and there’s plenty of bars and restaurants. It’s quite a hilly resort, but definitely a great choice.

And you can get a bus to Mahon (capital) from the resort, which is well worth a wander around (recommend the harbour boat trip too!) - bus is only about half an hour and quite regular.

AwakeNotThruChoice · 08/12/2024 19:24

@Flumpywoo I am not going to wish away the months! Really glad we have that to look forward to. Plus I spent hours and hours researching… I go completely OTT with researching as I used to be a Travel Agent many moons ago. I’m always paranoid about getting ‘It’ wrong.

@ScoobyDoesnt yes hopefully I’ve booked the right place for us. I will probably go to Mahon with the older girls once or twice. Plus there are buses to Fornells which looks nice for a change of an evening out. I’m sure there is enough for us to do, plus 2/3 days just doing not a lot!!
