I really didn’t know where to put this thread so apologies if this isn’t right…
my daughter is in an extremely competitive netball team, it’s quite a cut throat environment and I have suggested maybe we look for another team but she doesn’t want to, hence me trying to seek help for her problem here.
She is 11 and plays GS, she is relatively tall for her age but is playing in a league against adult sized girls who are vastly taller and usually around two years older.
it’s a lot of pressure having these huge girls completely stand in front of her and most of the time they successfully block her from receiving the ball.
Her coaches keep saying that she has to get in front of the GK, but she is finding that impossible, she steps in front of them, they step in front of her etc. The coaches have also instructed the feeders not to do over balls as they’re likely to get intercepted.
Daughter’s confidence is really starting to suffer, I’d like to be able to give her some help but I don’t know what to advise as I’ve never played GS.
How can she get in front of these girls (most are easily 5ft 6… where should she wait as the ball is coming down towards her? Should she fight to get to the top of the d or should she aim for the middle?
Should she stand side on? Any tips appreciated!
