The worst thing you’ve ever put in the washing machine…?

Make me feel better please!

DH away with work, and I have a day off whilst DD is in nursery so I’ve had a super productive day. Vacuumed/mopped the floors, cleaned the kitchen, done a few loads of laundry… just taken the last one out and I’ve managed to wash a (clean) disposable nappy. So now my nice clean floor is covered in the fake snow absorbent powder stuff, and the clothes are all having a second wash.

No great harm done (I hope!), but my goodness it’s irritating.

Separate occasions years apart £200 that was in x partners trousers pockets and Stuart Little thought I would never be able to come to the end of clearing that one up!

A used condom - must have got caught up in the bed sheets. Only found out when I had to get the plumber out to fix the machine because it wasn't draining. The condom had got stuck in the filter.

Alongside the classic tissue episodes, I washed my daughter's wool jumper (lovingly knitted by her Nanna) on the wrong cycle (maybe I should not have attempted to wash it in the machine at all) and it shrunk. Hours and hours of work, that was. DD didn't speak to me for days...my mum, the same. Lesson learnt.

That reminds me, SIL knitted then 6 month old DS a lovely cardigan. I suspect she didn't have much experience of babies as DS wore it once and was sick on it so I threw it in the machine without thinking. Came out felted and half the size. Saying that his teddy still wears it so probably got more use out of it that otherwise.
