Unexpectedly between jobs...

I recently moved to a new job but after a few weeks discovered it really wasn't for me and have left with nothing to go to.

I know I'm lucky that this was even an option, but I don't want to be too long out of work both from a financial perspective but also from a mental health viewpoint.

Question is, what can I do? I'm just turned 50 and for the last couple of years have been moving away from my previous career into a more office-based role. I've been a bit directionless in this respect but wanted to get some office experience as I felt it would give me some options moving forward. I do, however, find sitting at a desk all day a little dull.

I'm at a crossroads now, I can either continue doing office work which would possibly be more suited to me as I get older or I could go back to my previous career which is in a sector where there is always a shortage of staff and is more varied, but badly paid and physically more demanding.

What would others do?

Health care assistant in a hospital outpatients department. No personal care or lifting. Little bit of desk work. Normally just talking heights and weights & checking results have come through

Following. Similar story with me and the job market is the flattest I’ve seen it since 2009
