Can we have a thread for happy stuff please? Not necessarily anything massive or overwhelmingly amazing but just general day-to-day things that aren't sad, depressing, worrying or upsetting. I'm going through a bit of a tough time at the moment and knowing that generally good stuff happens in the world as well as the shit would be really welcome. I'm trying to think more positively.

Me- I have a lovely warm cosy home today as I work, and something tasty to cook for dinner later this evening.

DH and I went for a champagne breakfast today. It was lovely. It was a Christmas gift (from last last Christmas) from a friend we did a lot to help last year. The sun shone we sat on the terrace and enjoyed the food, the champagne and the ambience. Raised a glass to her and to her DH who passed last year.

I have just driven several miles to get a wimpy beanburger! 6 monthly treat!

Cuppachuchu · 05/11/2024 12:58

DH had a hearing test and doesn't need any hearing aids. And I mooched the charity shops whilst he had his test and found a lovely cashmere scarf for £3.50.

I have sparklers and marshmallows to toast for tonight and the weather is mild and it will be lovely 🥰

After a nearly-5 year wait, a close friend has had a hip replacement and is looking forward to a retirement of doing the sports he loves, once he's recovered.

GiddyRobin · 05/11/2024 14:06

DH and I are full of heavy colds, have been the past week or so. We called in sick today and crawled back into bed together once the kids were in school, ate pastries and drank gorgeous coffee, then napped. It was absolutely lovely.

Feeling vaguely more alive now so we're making a chilli for tonight's post-Bonfire event. We're exhausted but we're going to drag ourselves along for the kids and keep at a distance so we don't spread our germs. DH is googling how to make cinder toffee. 😍

I managed to unblock the hose on my hetty hoover its been blocked solid in the middle for 3 days and today I finally dislodged the issue, it was a pencil, some lego, a sock and a pencil sharper ( I let the 4 year old have a go at hoovering 😬)

CheerfulBunny · 05/11/2024 14:17

Some £5 shoes I ordered from Ebay turned up today and they match the dress I want to wear to OHs Xmas do perfectly 👌 They're really pretty wine/burgundy suede and in lovely, as new condition. They look fab - not sure how much dancing I'll be able to do but I'm very pleased.

I have just enjoyed a lovely burger, using special Wimpey sauce that I finally managed to buy recently, after not being able to get hold of any for ages!

I've just managed to buy badges on offer for my Brownies for when we go on a Brownie holiday...the extra random Christmas gifts for my friends and myself also made me smile

devildeepbluesea · 05/11/2024 19:51

DD and I have just had a lovely Guy Fawkes tea of hot dogs, coleslaw and corn on the cob. DDog is mercifully too thick to be bothered by the fireworks, and we’re all off to bed for a lovely early night soon.
And tomorrow, I’m off to Devon with my sis and the dogs for some R&R consisting mainly of walking and pubs.

GiddyRobin · 05/11/2024 19:56

We've just got back from our Bonfire Night event - so so lovely, and I'm glad we dragged ourselves out. Dancing and folk music and all sorts! Now we're settling down in pj's, and about to heat up the chilli to have with jacket spuds.

My new PJs and bedclothes arrived today, so fresh new sheets and clean lovely bedwear later! Might have a sneaky glass of port with DH while we finish the spuds and the kids draw!

My dog has just started medication for arthritis pain, he’s also going blind and has been really disoriented, especially on walks. We had a lovely sunny day today and he ran around like when he was younger and was just so much more himself. Helped me feel better to know the pain meds must be working and there will still be good days for him too.

bakewellbride · 05/11/2024 20:03

I've had my beautiful greyhound for just 6 weeks and honestly it's so incredible getting to know him. I was having a tough day and decided to go on a run with him, it was our favourite woodland route and I just came home feeling amazing. Just the way we connected while out in nature, the way he listened to me, looked at me with his perfect eyes. I just can't explain how magical it was.

KateF · 05/11/2024 20:06

I passed my MA dissertation today!

Homebird8 · 05/11/2024 20:07

I went with a friend to her citizenship ceremony and clapped and smiled until I was sore.

MrsA2015 · 05/11/2024 20:11

Dd will be 1 week old tomorrow😁

Rowena191 · 05/11/2024 20:15

I got my grandma's ring repaired at the jeweller's. It's got 4 emeralds with 2 tiny diamonds between each one, and one of the diamonds went missing. I'm so happy to have it back and I've been thinking about my grandma.

NeedSomeComfy · 05/11/2024 20:15

My 4yo daughter was put on the front row for the performance of the pirate dance she and her class have been practicing. She was so proud 😍😍. Then we came home and did our own little dance class so she could teach me the dance too!

MissConductUS · 05/11/2024 20:19

My daughter was married in June and relocated with her husband, who is now in post graduate school. She's a recent university graduate and has been working near minimum-wage jobs. She's just accepted a fully remote job with a major US tech company that is great money, very flexible and will look fab on her CV going forward. They're flying her to California in early December to meet everyone on her team in person.

We're really pleased for her, and proud.

Cashew1 · 05/11/2024 20:21

When I was having a tough time I treated myself to a subscription from here - https://thehappynewspaper.com/?v=7885444af42e might be something of interest for you OP?

Happy news from my house - I finally put handles on my kids 'new' built in wardrobes...6 months after they were installed 😂 They genuinely squealed with delight to see them, both because the handles are a funky yellow shade and also now they don't have to open the bottom cupboard from the bottom before they can open the top cupboard to get to their stuff...poor little blighters! They never moaned once! It was one of those jobs which only took 5 minutes but we never got around to it, I really didn't think it would cause such elation!!!
