Blackpool illuminations advice

We went to see the Blackpool illuminations last year and loved everything except the parking! We parked in the popular car park and not only were the spaces tiny but we saw a few cars get scraped as people were careless with squeezing into gaps.

Can anyone local or experienced with Blackpool suggest a better place to park? We are happy to park further away and get the tram in. Any suggestions?? It's such a shame there's no park and ride, it'd make a fortune.

Parking tends to be easier at the Bispham end. Or we go into the centre early and park in the Talbot Road Sainsbury's car park, then do the arcades etc before the lights get switched on and walk the illuminations after the switch on.

I would go mid week if you can as it gets rammed on weekends and the hen and stag parties start arriving.

What is the "popular car park" you mention?

I've previously used the Central Multi-Storey car park and that was good. Easy to access, secure and plenty of space.

I can't remember what it's called, it's the main car park next to the main arcades. Behind the bus station??

We took the tram to Bipsham so that sounds like a good shout. They've got a lovely dog friendly cafe too!

@FlowersOfSulphur Does the multi storey stay open fairly late?

We parked at the Starr gate end near pleasure beach on the road (think it was £9 for day) had a part wander part tram journey in day and went to bispham about 5 and made way back on foot then switched to tram

I'm racking my brains to think what deletion-worthy thing @Spaffer might have said about car parks!

Anyway OP, the multi-storey stays open until midnight.

Puppupandaway · 06/11/2024 13:25

I thanked Spaffer as they just suggested a car park! There was nothing odd in the post. Very strange.

Thank you @FlowersOfSulphur We discounted the multi storey last time as it looked like it closed by 9pm.... so thank you. I think we have a winner!!
