My dog is so distraught

There have been fireworks going off every evening since late last week. My dog is old and fully blind, he's terrified and barking so much he's gone all croaky.

Just sounding off here really but what is the point of bloody fireworks?! Just F OFF! Surely they are such a waste of money.

God knows what tomorrow evening will be like 😞

No it isn’t. This is from the RSPCA.

I do think you are being goady.

No mention of bees on there. And commissioned by RSPCA is worth a pinch of salt.

Bottom line is people like noisy fireworks. They're legal and hundreds of thousands of people will be going to displays and setting their own off.

It would but unfortunately it's blind.

He's blind, not it's.....have a bit of respect please. Poor thing is upset enough without being insulted 😘

Mine was shaking and panting so much yesterday I was really worried , despite wearing a head muff. Today I’ve created a den and went and got a thundershirt . I’m also spending every evening with him upstairs now until they stop. We’re listening to some loud Jesus and Mary chain. So far - no fireworks tonight!
The bangs should be banned. There is just no need - play music instead !

Oh @Dragger so brave when anonymous aren't you. I guarantee that you wouldn't dare be so rude face to face, say with a colleague or friend. Pathetic.

It's a 14 year old boy by the sound of it 🙄

Sileo or gaba and trazadone either gaba alone or gaba and traz togther, also buy the firework cd now and start playing it low, then each week or month increasing the volume slightly. It is supposed to desensitize pets against very loud noises. My friend this year had very good things to say about CBD oil that she was using on her dog, said it really helped

Bodeganights · 04/11/2024 21:11

What I have used successfully
A pop up tent, small enough for the dog, covered by a thick blanket to muffle the sound, its den to hide in. Leave TV on quite loud. A dog snood thing, if you put it on correctly it works very well for the sound. Close all curtains and put all lights on to cover the flashes.
Long walk early in the day to tire them out. Stay calm, I struggle with this because loud noises make me jump.
