Security tag left on

My dd brought a top from a shop an hours drive away and they forgot to take the security tag off. It was from Hollister.

Does anyone know if there is any change another shop may remove the tanning she showed the receipt or do different shops have different tags?

You could ask your local charity shop. It's just a magnet. I'm sure they would do it, you have the receipt.
My dad removed one for me with pliers years ago, but obviously thats a risk to to the clothing.
Or email hollister..?- they might compensate in some way?

There are videos on YouTube showing how to do it.. I left one on the vodka I got from Sainsbury's the other day and we found one

This happened to me and I did not notice until the morning I wanted to wear the blouse for an interview. In desperation I used two forks back to back to lever it off . There is a risk of damage so I would not try this on anything very expensive.

Tell the staff to concéntrate. They do this every day as part of their job, how do they forget?

This happened with me once at Tesco. I bought a top, and the tag was left on. The alarm didn't go off oddly! I got home and saw it, and there was no way I could get it off without ruining the top. So I took it back - WITH THE RECEIPT - and they refused to remove the tag saying it must have been stolen, as no WAY would their staff have not taken it off. They kept the top and refused to give it back - despite me having a receipt. They said this was clearly a receipt for another top! Confused

I walked out without my top, and £24 lighter. I was really upset. I emailed their Head Office and explained what had happened, and showed them the receipt, and asked them to look at the cctv where they would see me paying for said top, and the checkout operator NOT taking the tag off.

Anyway, long story short, I got an email back the next day saying they would investigate. 3-4 days later I got another email from them - apologising. They said it was their error, and sent me a voucher for £50. The money back for the top, and also another £26.

I got one off using some nail scissors last year.

Thanks we are worried to try and remove it in case we damage the top. I contacted hollister on live chat who said they would look into it but then when they saw it was a store purchase ended the chat and said they would pass to payments but not heard anything. Think we will try a local shop with tags and see what they say.

thanks everyone

Really annoying this has happened twice to us. Is it an ink filled one?

DH drilled it off as it was a hobb dress from an outlet miles away

Second was an online order and had to take it JD for them to remove it- even though it was from another supplier they must be the same - another well know sport shop who's name escapes me.

We even tried a strong magnet and that didn't work

Evermore7 · 04/11/2024 22:44

It is one of the chunky grey plastic ones which I am not sure if ink filled

I did the two forks thing on a bra and there was no discernible damage. Didn’t beep going through the door and didn’t have a receipt as it was a self-service till where you can choose whether or not to get a receipt and generally I don’t for environmental reasons. So two forks seemed less of a faff. Takes a bit of wiggling about for five minutes but YouTube videos show you how to do it. Mine was one of those grey ones - no dye, but don’t quote me on that as was just in my case.
