I wondered if anyone might have a recommendation please? I'm looking on hotels.com and going round in circles! I have credit to use so travelodge/premier inn no good. It's just for one night in December
Thanks!

Malmaison is nice.

NigelHarmansNewWife · 04/11/2024 10:25

Radisson Edwardian, The Midland (Crowne Plaza), John Street.

NigelHarmansNewWife · 04/11/2024 10:30

Kimpton Clocktower, Hilton, Leonardo Manchester Central.

Avoid The Britannia on Portland Street, Sacha's nearby and I wouldn't stay on/near Piccadilly Gardens.

Thanks all
I've stayed at the Midland, don't know if we were unlucky but the room was really not nice. Will have a good look this evening

I've had decent stays at the Mercure

My current favourite is the Hilton at Old Trafford. But it could be too far out for you

dottyaboutstripes · 04/11/2024 15:27

We were looking at the Lowry but we are going to coop live then the next day planning to do the Xmas markets so town makes more sense 🤷‍♀️
Could stay with mil for free but don't want to!

Kimpton Clocktower or the Midland.

MantisAndCrumpet · 04/11/2024 15:31

I stayed in Motel One in June and loved it- clean, central, nice bar downstairs and very reasonably priced. But if you’ve got Midland type budget may not be what you’re looking for

Do you mean near the Lowry outlet or at The Lowry Hotel?

Bubobubo · 04/11/2024 15:47

Clayton hotel is very central, and was a lovely stay. Stayed here a few months ago.

dottyaboutstripes · 04/11/2024 15:48

Ok I meant Lowry hotel and now I've just looked again it's reminded me I shouldn't listen to Dh - I already knew that but sometimes forget!

I'm local to Manchester and the markets are a waste of money and time. You're better off avoiding them! They're so expensive and all the stalls are duplicates.

Nothing special about them whatsoever.

Dakota
Kingstreet townhouse
Gotham

NigelHarmansNewWife · 04/11/2024 16:21

The Lowry may be in Salford but it's just at the back of Deansgate so I wouldn't dismiss it.

AddictedToBooks · 04/11/2024 16:44

Kimpton Clocktower is my favourite hotel - absolutely gorgeous and close to the rail station, theatre etc

As another PP said - definitely avoid any Britannia hotels - utter hovels.

Hoppinggreen · 04/11/2024 16:46

Malmaison, Dakota,
I do quite like The Midland but some of the rooms are very tired and last time we stayed there was a lot of mould in the window
