I posted this on mental health earlier but had no response so was hoping for some help in general..
I'm hoping for some signposting as it's not something I'm familiar with.

My near neighbour has openly discussed her adult child's mental health struggles and they as far as I know have been sectioned twice before. Apparently they got violent and the police were called to assist. They live in another UK country .

I have when they've been visiting seen and spoken in passing to them .

Last week my neighbour called to me as I was passing to say that their DC had turned up yesterday and seemed agitated, that they wanted to stay with their her and not return home. My neighbour does not want this .

My neighbour has now text me every day to say that she can't cope and wants them out of her house.

I went round ( probably unwisely) but the DC wouldn't communicate with me.

Who do I contact, I'm scared of making the wrong call and putting my neighbour in danger .. I've let them know my work schedule and that they can come here for safety but that's not enough. I suggested calling the police but she said that her DC may react badly after .

Your neighbour needs to contact people not you.

Search your local authority's website for their mental health services.

This is an issue for the police, but really your neighbour needs to call them. The adult child is going to react badly whoever she calls, so that's not really an excuse. If she wants them out the police are the best option.

Having said that, you can call 101 for advice from the police which you can then pass to your neighbour.

Thank you, my neighbour is elderly and hates speaking on the phone due to partial deafness. I will call mental health services first .
