I had a filling about 6 weeks ago, toward the back teeth at the bottom. The local anaesthetic was excruciatingly painful, it felt like a stabbing pain in my tongue - like nothing I've ever had before (and I've had wisdom teeth out).
For a couple of weeks afterwards my tongue felt numb and I had a nasty metallic taste in my mouth. It's not as bad now but seems to have plateaued and I have a permanent feeling like I've burnt my tongue on a too-hot cup of coffee, at the front of my tongue at the side that was treated. Plus a mild metallic taste and a dehydrated mouth feeling. It's quite unpleasant.
I'd really like to know what might have happened and whether my tongue will recover? My own dentist wasn't much help, just said they must have touched a nerve.
