How to block calls?

Hello
Does anyone know how to block a certain contact from calling both on WhatsApp and the normal call please? My phone is Android.
I don't want to block the person totally and am still happy to receive texts from them just not calls. Even just mute them or send them to voicemail would be good.
Tried googling and the only way I can see is to block them entirely which as I've said is not what I want.
This isn't the being done to be horrible to the person but I'm currently being driven bonkers by their calling hence my asking.

I don’t think you can block a call but not block the whole person.
Either you block them or you need to tell them honestly to stop phoning you.

On iPhone (I’m sure you can do the same on Android, I presume) you can block unknown callers on both phone and WhatsApp. If you delete their number, they’ll be “unknown”. You’ll still get their messages. On iPhone, the call is silenced so goes straight to voicemail.

I always have this feature on unless I’m expecting a phone call from say the GP, vets or Ocado 😁
