Pre period hell

PanAmHostess · 03/11/2024 18:01

Awaiting a script for the mini pill. I'm suffering pre period. Cycles getting longer and checked I'm not pregnant. I've been having literally pebble shits, burning eye balls, intrusive thoughts, extreme guilt, no energy. On day 42! I need to just flip the switch on these fuckers!

I suffered the same for years, period was coming every 18 days and it felt like I was either on or due on.

I'm 42, done with child bearing and couldn't cope with all the misery so I had it dealt with by ablation. It's been life changing

Is that for heavy periods? Mine aren't heavy it's just the symptoms pre that are making me insane.

Poor you! You have my sympathy. I used to get crazyily itchy lips and gums, leg ache with an all over flu like absence of energy, what I called the "recalcitrant poo" (needing to go but dry as a bone), paranoia/anxiety, javelin arse, the list goes on. And, I know not everyone suffers to the same extent or the same way, but we all just carry on as if one day is the same as the next! There are those machines that are supposed to give men a sense of what cramping is like, but I would like the other random symptoms to be shared too. Learning to perform consistently every day is an unrecognised skill!

PanAmHostess · 03/11/2024 20:59

Thank you everyone. @dudsville was yours perimenopause?

It was, about a decade to 12 years of it. I'm happily the other side, and thankfully no need for hrt. I do miss the other side of pms, where I'd enjoy a week of looking and feeling my best, and I don't want to wish my life away but I'd happily trade that for pms every day.

PanAmHostess · 03/11/2024 21:54

@dudsville sounds grim. I feel a bit young but I do have pcos aswell so wonder if that's kicking off too. I know I ovulate still.

OP posts:
dudsville · 04/11/2024 17:14

Yeah, pcos is another level entirely. Hope you can find some ways to ease and cope. I don't have pcos, but i used to just keep my head down, avoid making big decisions, etc.

It sounds like you have PMDD, join the support group on Facebook there’s just so many relatable stories.

Crazy cycle lengths, extreme symptoms (I have loads of digestive issues due to this. Bowel issues and crazy low appetite, I’ve literally eaten 2 slices of toast a Kit Kat and a cookie all of today…and that was a struggle. A year ago I had a BMI of 16 and was on the verge of being hospitalised!)

Was getting my cycle every 10 weeks but now it’s around 5. No doubt will change again before long, never settles.
insomnia
muscle spasms
headaches
spots
thrush
intense nausea
every cycle it’s a horrid mix of ‘which ones am I getting this time’
It’s all been since I had kids.

Would pmdd suddenly start?

Yes. From what I’ve seen/read I think so.

Most of the support group posts note a ‘point’ at which it all began suggesting many havn’t had it their whole lives. For me it started post kids

I'm going back on the pill. I literally cannot stand this. Today my eyes and joints are burning. I'm roasting

I came off anti depressants in July. I wonder if that's contributed
