Does anyone know how to dye a cream bedding set white?

I’ve just purchased a new bedding set which is more of an off white, almost ivory, I’d like it white, a bright white? Has anyone successfully don’t this?! What can I use?

You can’t. I mean, you could try bleaching it but there is a risk it will damage the fabric and be very patchy. Can you return it?

I don't think you'll be able to. Swap it for a white one.

I think I’ll have to :-( It’s a really expensive set so I’m worried about messing it up, I love everything else about it, I can take it back, it just looks nothing like online sadly :-(

You can't. You'd have to bleach it, with all the associated drawbacks. You can only dye things darker.

You can’t dye anything a lighter colour than it already is. Repeated hot washes with ecover bleach powder will whiten it over time, or you could soak it in bleach but that might be patchy or cause the fabric to deteriorate.

II wouldn't recommend bleaching, it isn't guaranteed to be even and could make it very delicate. You can't dye fabric lighter, only bleach it which is hard to do at home. You could dye it another colour but be aware that the stitching isn't always the same material as the fabric itself so if you dyed it blue, say, you can end up with very visible cream stitching.

I'd either see if they have white or a similar one in white and send back, or see if I can get used to the cream.

I'd just return, saying the colour is not as expected and could you please have a refund.
