"Very very low glass ceiling"

Sellingbedtime · 03/11/2024 14:45

Are we now at a point where glass ceilings have a hierarchy of "importance"

Surely a women or person of minority breaking any glass ceiling is to be applauded, no matter "how high" it is deemed?... Or at the very least just not belittled?

It's very puzzling that such an ardent feminist would be so dismissive of the first female Chancellor in 800 years. I'm sure she's been 'misunderstood'.

SocksTalk · 03/11/2024 14:56

or maybe she's a cunt.

ButterMints · 03/11/2024 15:03

I know we're supposed to celebrate her because she's the first black female leader of a major political party etc etc. But she's just such an awful person it's hard to see anything about this as positive.

Why? Can you elaborate please as to why Kami is such an awful person. Do you know her?

Oh I'm sure fans of the sainted Kemi will be claiming that.

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 03/11/2024 15:12

Does she really have fans? Have I missed something? It's like a reddit edgelord is in charge of the Conservative party.

Why are you sure she's been misunderstood?

She's always claiming that she's been misunderstood and her fans bend over backwards to justify her. Wait for it on this thread.

Edited

Apart from when she said in an interview:

"I never have gaffes, or apologising for something that I said, [saying] ‘oh that’s not what I meant,’ I never have to clarify, because I think very carefully about what I say.”

😂😂😂

ApocalypseMiaow · 03/11/2024 15:21

She's an absolute psycho, have you not been listening to everything she's saying? Or are you the kind of awful person who thinks like she does? You are as evil as she is then. God help humanity, bring on the meteor ffs

Sandyhand · 03/11/2024 15:26

Are you ok apocalypse? Do you need a sit down.

No wonder people are reluctant to become mps - just because she has different opinions than you doesn’t mean she’s evil!!!

Unless she’s advocating murder I think you have misunderstood the fact that what you think is right in terms of policy ideas is just your opinion, NOT a moral black and white and people are allowed to disagree with you.

If you think I'm going to read a Daily Mail link, you've got another think coming.

'I find it astonishing that Rachel Reeves keeps talking about how she's the first female chancellor which in my view is a very very low glass ceiling in the Labour Party that she may have smashed – nowhere near as significant as what other women in this country have achieved'.

Sellingbedtime · 03/11/2024 15:39

@nomorehocuspocus that's ok, the original interview was on this morning's Laura Kuenssberg (if you prefer BBC reporting). You can watch her say it in it's full context, without the DM twisting anything.

Can’t believe she actually said that, except that I heard it coming out of her mouth. First female Chancellor in 600 years and she dismissed the achievement as if it were nothing! Lost any micro-graining support I might have had for her right there and then.

is a very very low glass ceiling in the Labour Party that she may have smashed

I think that's a jab at the Labour Party, not at Rachael Reeves. We've had three female PMs and they've all been Tories. I think it's legitimate to note that Labour seem to have a problem with choosing women to be leaders.

What an absolutely shit thing to say about another woman. I don't think RR has been blowing her own trumpet btw, it's been others doing that.

Thank you, but I'm busy watching paint dry. 😂
