Anyone had this never ending heavy cold?

It's been eight days now, and no sign of my nose stopping running. Been to the doctors, told all fine and it's just a virus.

Not feeling as bad as I was a few days ago, but the fatigue, lack of voice and constant nose blowing hasn't ended. Strange thing was, I never had a temperature the whole way through. I can normally muddle on through with cold symptoms but I just feel wiped out still. It's very strange. I can normally shake off a cold in a few days. I've barely done anything the past few days.

It's not as bad as the 100 day cough which I had last year, because this is without any aches or chills (thank goodness), so just wondering if anyone has experienced similar and to get an idea of when I will get my energy back.

I had Covid last week - sounds just like I was suffering with although I did have a high temperature on one of the days. Still suffering over a week later with brain fog, runny nose and a terrible cough.

Ah okay, could be that I guess. I never do the tests because I can't actually do them myself without retching or having strong reflexes when it goes up my nose.

I did wonder if it was Covid when I lost my taste one night, but it came back the next day, and I've not had a temperature at all. I've got the brain fog too, I hope you feel better soon :)

I've got this - on day 10. DH on day 3- it's miserable. I bought some covid tests yesterday and we are both negative but dear god it is/ has been dreadful. Feeling much better now just the hacking cough left but had the whole shivering/nausea/snot ridden hell to ride out! I'm nearly through I think but really tired all the time - had all the symptoms including D&V for 2 days and 1 day of no taste/smell - I think its got to be the latest round of covid. Very pissed off as I WFH 99% of the time so god knows how I got it!

I've got...something. It is very strange.

Lots of healthy fluids and rest @Autumnleaveswhenthegrassisjewelled :)

Sunshineandrainbow · 03/11/2024 01:43

Have you tried an antihistamine to dry it up?

CalicoPusscat · 03/11/2024 02:09

Anyone up with sinus pain? 😣

OldTinHat · 03/11/2024 04:08

Six weeks here and still going...

Oh dear! The snot is another level isn't it?! I didn't know I could produce so much! I hope you get your energy levels back soon!

I think I got mine from my daughter as she had a horrible cough and had to call the paramedics out to give her a nebuliser and then a few hours in A&E doing an inhaler every twenty minutes. She was bouncing around all over the place within a few hours though!

Me too, I'm on day 12. Lots of snot and brain fog, temperature, sore throat has gone but I now have a cough which I don't normally get.

2in2022twoyearson · 13/04/2025 19:31

Oh yes, sinus and ear pain, allthough I think ear pain was from blowing my nose. Very thick green snot too. I'm over the most of it though. Had two days (not together) with rest but mostly tried to keep going.

greengreyblue · 13/04/2025 19:34

I’m sneezing like mad but it’s tree pollen. Could that be a factor?

BadActors · 13/04/2025 19:40

I think I’ve got similar. Day 11 and I think it’s finally starting to ease but I’ve still got no sense of smell of taste (since about 3 days ago) and the never ending runny nose!
Dry cough at the beginning for about 4 days and then gradually built to this. I hate this cold. When will it go?!

TheFluffiestCat · 13/04/2025 19:47

I had two weeks of sore throat and productive cough, which segued into torrentially running nose, blocked sinuses and consequent toothache. It lasted about 6 weeks altogether, and I felt rotten for the first 3-4.
