Just read that she passed away this morning. I know she could be divisive but god was she funny and brightened up many a day through Covid with her brilliant Nicola Sturgeon voiceovers. She fought a hard battle and was vey brave sharing her cancer journey and then her move to end of life care. Frank got the door for her and I hope she is a peace now. RIP Janey and thanks so much for all the laughs. Hugs to your family and those who loved you xx

She did so well, what a hard thing to do but she's done her mum proud.

I hadn't seen this. That's very sad news.

BigJanette · 02/11/2024 11:47

RIP Janey.
You and your Nicola Sturgeon voice overs had me in tears of laughter during a shite time.
My friend and I call each other Sandra and Big Janette because of you! 💐

Very sad to hear this. I only recently discovered the 4 short (5-10 minutes) episodes of Alone, that were recorded during lockdown. Very clever writing about coercive control, that will resonate with a lot of women. This should be a link, if you haven’t seen it…

I am torn between sadness and relief that her suffering is over now. How she stayed so positive, funny and upbeat is beyond me. I really liked her and she always brought a smile to my face, as does her daughter.

Sourisblanche · 02/11/2024 12:05

Oh no. I know it was expected but just yesterday I saw that she had been given a degree from the Uni of Glasgow. RIP you brave funny woman.

Stretchedresources · 02/11/2024 12:09

I can't bear to watch Ashley's video clip yet. Janey was a force of nature.
Her childhood and young adult life in Glasgow was nuts and would have broken a lot of people.

clarkkentsglasses · 02/11/2024 12:11

Very sad to hear this. Get the door Frank!

Tutorpuzzle · 02/11/2024 12:15

Oh, I did not know this. Her Nicola Stugeon impression is something I go to whenever I’m in need of a laugh..she was brilliant.

TartanCulshie · 02/11/2024 12:18

This has really shocked me. I knew she was terminally ill, but I suppose I thought she would go on for longer.

She was amazing. I first seen her on Have I Got News For You when she talked about keeping a steak bake warm with her hot flushes (or similar).

She broke the mould, very sad news.

Rest in peace Janey

I absolutely adored her, loved her book she wrote about her life. Feel so sorry for Ashley having been in her shoes this exact time last year. Her comedy really helped get through lockdown. May she rest in peace.

I loved her such a brave, strong and funny woman

DrivingThePlot · 02/11/2024 13:14

It's so sad. DH & I loved watching her during the pandemic and after. She was so clever and funny.

Her daughter Ashley's announcement this morning was very brave but that last "Frank, get the door" made me cry.

Vitriolinsanity · 02/11/2024 16:55

She made lockdown more bearable.

Thank you Janey, for the laughs.

KeepingGoingOneDayAtATime · 02/11/2024 17:55

She was wonderful wasn't she? We watched all her videos through the covid lockdowns and that we my DS's whole view of the covid situation. He just laughed and laughed and I was so grateful to her for making it okay for him like that. We only stopped when he started shouting "cunt" randomly in conversation (ooops).

I'm really sorry to hear that she's gone, but glad she's not suffering now.
