Big Friends Day Out Ideas

Mumblechum0 · 02/11/2024 11:16

My mate turns 60 in Jan, she has a few celebrations booked and I’ve offered to arrange a mystery day out somewhere as she was going round in circles.

london is reasonably close so that’s my main idea.

please can someone come up with a few suggestions for a day out bearing in mind:

mate not massive drinker

into alternative lifestyle stuff but doesn’t need to be about that, most of us not into gong bath crystal tantric woo stuff but small element would be ok

approx 12 women all late 59s, early 60s but by no means grannified.

it’s a Monday in January so weather likely to be crap

money no object within reason

thanks in advance

Small car big city. They take you for a guided tour of London in classic Mini Coopers, lots of quirky, off the beaten track places. You can arrange for them to pick you up/drop you off from a venue of your choice, it's great fun.

Would advise you to wear trousers, there's a knack to getting in and out of the back seat (in forwards, out backwards).

Dans le Noir? london.danslenoir.com/

It's near the barbican, so could see what's on when you're there? Or combine with another activity

Set menu lunch somewhere nice followed by a matinee theatre show might fill the bill!

I love you all! Brilliant ideas, I’m going online for full details now x

Has anyone been to Cabaret? I think it’s in west end somewhere

Yes!! It's absolutely bloody fantastic. It's by embankment station.

Thanks, that’s also on the list now 😊

Hmmm a few people have got in touch to say they’re on a budget, so I don’t think I can suggest Cabaret, has anyone been to one of the electroshuffleboard/bingo/crazy golf places in the city? (Ideally looking at walking distance within the Sky Garden/Ned area?

Swingers is good apparently, it's only a few minutes walk from the NED.

I've been to Swingers for a work do... it was fun but I wouldn't consider it to be something good enough for a 60th celebration 🙈

Mumblechum0 · 24/11/2024 00:36

Thanks, I guess the main celebration is the lunch in the Sky Garden just trying to think of something to do between that and drinks at the Ned…..

We’ve done a fun escape room near Moorgate - Enigma Quests is the company. Or look at Escape Entertainment. Or for free options there’s a wander round Leadenhall market or (bit further) Spitalfields.

Thanks @minipie
