Inspired by a brilliant thread about batshit bosses!
I had a mentor who was having an affair with a married neighbour. She spent my whole placement telling me about all of the in’s and out’s of their sordid affair and would show me their messages and ask for help in responding. She was a very senior nurse and an excellent teacher but she just LOVED to tell me all of the gossip
Same hospital different ward, the ward manager got sacked for turning up to work drunk, she had had repeated warnings re this but ignored them and the final straw was when she passed out in her office and no one could rouse her
my very first mentor was batshit, she ran clinics and every time she was running late she blamed ME even though I did absolutely nothing but sit in the corner observing. She left me on an empty ward for 8 hours when there was no clinics therefore no patients so she went to ‘work from home’ but wouldn’t let me go home either. She rung the ward every hour to check I was still there. On my last day she signed my hours off on my pad and I ran away 🤣
Witnessed a physical fight in a district nursing office as 2 members of staff were seeing the same man. One of them was my mentor and then we had to go and see patients as it was too busy for them to be suspended and sent home. We got in the car and she acted like nothing had happened 🙈
