Your view from your sitting room!

What can you see when you are sat in your sitting room/lounge/living room (whatever you call it)
All I can see is trees, beautiful autumn colours and sometimes the sky goes that lovely pink colour when the sun comes up.
We have only lived here a short while and I love it (we do live on a main road but I can't see that from where I sit). All I could see from my other house were other people's houses and I didn't realise at the time how much it bothered me, we lived there for a long time and I can't believe I didn't realise it was part of the reason I wasn't happy!
What can you see and do you like it or does it bother you?

That sounds beautiful. And you'll be able to watch the trees change with the seasons.

From the window of my snug I can see the garden and no other houses because it's surrounded by a laurel hedge. It's lovely to watch in the morning but is almost nicer at night as we have twinkling fairy lights. From out living room, it's just the hedge and our cars, no not quite very nice, but private.

Both rooms have two windows and from the other windows we can see our neighbours' stable block and their horses ambling past now and again, and people coming and going along the track (it's a livery yard, and there are two houses along the track) Sometimes I put the blind down as it feels less private, but DDog likes to watch 'cat TV' in the morning as the stable mousers go about their business.

I have two sitting rooms. From one I just see the neighbour’s house (she’s lovely, though - I like that she’s there), from the other I just see my garden.

However, I can hear the cows mooing (I’m near a farm). So that’s nice.

BigDahliaFan · 02/11/2024 07:47

We used to look out on houses, terraced row. I consoled myself that while we were looking out on fairly pretty Victorian houses with painted balconies our side of the street was all dodgy pebbledash. We had the better of the views. Small handkerchief sized front garden.

We moved and Now it's all trees and the sky and the front garden I've planted up with (too many) trees and tall wafty things so I can see them from the window and there's so many birds in it. And we can see the top of the sunset. Still live in the middle of town but have a thatched cottage we can see.

CrepuscularCritter · 02/11/2024 07:51

From the front, the garden, the holly tree and then the road and the houses opposite. From the back, just garden and trees through the ancient French doors. And I can hear the owl finishing his night work. (City suburbs, and surprisingly full of greenery.)

JustAnotherHappyFatty · 02/11/2024 08:29

These all sound lovely! I definitely need to be able to see greenery or I get very fed up.

I can see the woods out the back from the sofa but if I look out the other side of the room it's a row of houses. Its the reason the sofa is where it is, it lets us think we live in the middle of nowhere.

KeebabSpider · 02/11/2024 08:39

I can see rooftops of old houses, trees and the castle. The only good thing about this house is the view, so I'm not too smug about it.

Terryhalloffame · 02/11/2024 08:44

I can see agricultural fields and big open sky. However we are now promised 2 rows of electricity pylons 😡

Hoglet70 · 02/11/2024 08:45

We do look across at other houses but we have a big tree on our front garden which obscures them which is nice. That's all I can see.

Allofthelightsss · 02/11/2024 08:47

I can see the little play park and field opposite and then a few houses. Plenty of sky.

From the back I can see lots of trees, we get squirrels and lots of birds. It’s lovely.

FergusSingsTheBIues · 02/11/2024 08:48

All we have are trees, every single window looks onto trees which makes our house feel really private and rural. It’s not 🤣

shellyleppard · 02/11/2024 08:48

My front garden which is full of plants still. Then bungalows and houses and the road that goes through our estate. Sometimes I see a friendly neighbour who waves as they go past

MrsMoastyToasty · 02/11/2024 08:48

Over the tops of our fence I can see mature trees, the top storey of the closest school buildings (with solar panels on their rooves) and a mobile phone mast.

Chypre · 02/11/2024 08:49

Family room/kitchen diner is looking into our garden, sitting room - the trees at the front of the house. Would love to be closer to the sea though, but that (amount of cash…) will never happen so I am happy as is.

YorkieTheRabbit · 02/11/2024 08:52

I can see the mixed hedges in our front garden.
The large purple beech tree in the garden across the road, I can see the house as it’s a bungalow.
Behind that is a huge sycamore, it’s something I enjoy seeing change through the seasons.

Simonjt · 02/11/2024 08:53

Our living room is at the back of our house, we have an open basement at the back so our living room is high up and has a balcony/veranda type thing. We can see our rear neighbours house (fences, and high fences aren’t really a thing here), trees, the local park and if I look more to the right I can just about see the raised metro tracks. Our direct rear neighbours house is yellow, the one to the right is green and the one to the left is cream.

A castle, a town hall, a cathedral, two cranes, rooftops. 10 points to anyone who can guess which city I'm in!

househunting123 · 02/11/2024 09:00

We've just moved in following a lengthy renovation and I love the view from our living room - it's our back garden, beautiful trees, and the top of an amazing manor house built in the 1500s! I'm a proper Tudor geek so absolutely love this 😁

Lincoln??

Grepes · 02/11/2024 09:03

The beauty that is London architecture! I’m probably in a minority here, but I much prefer city views to country ones. I find the country a bit dull.

Lincoln??

Nope, that's about 2.5 hours from me. I do have a lovely view. My house isn't the nicest but the view definitely makes up for it.

Beepbeepoutoftheway · 02/11/2024 09:08

We live on a VERY busy main road and I love it. It's perfect for people watching/being nosey 😆

therewasafishinthepercolator · 02/11/2024 09:08

A road, a hedge, a field.

Today there are sheep in the field. I love it when it's sheep. My favourite fieldee.

Can also see that the flowers in my window box are pretty much dead.

Basicwhich · 02/11/2024 09:18

@NinaLively Durham?

I can see the back of my neighbours house 🙈 I would love a more natural view! Some of these sound beautiful

NoWordForFluffy · 02/11/2024 09:21

We can see miles and miles across fields. If it's a clear day we can see the Welsh mountains. At night the cranes on Liverpool's docks are lit up red in the distance. On a clear day we can see Radio City tower as well!
