Your view from your sitting room!

What can you see when you are sat in your sitting room/lounge/living room (whatever you call it)
All I can see is trees, beautiful autumn colours and sometimes the sky goes that lovely pink colour when the sun comes up.
We have only lived here a short while and I love it (we do live on a main road but I can't see that from where I sit). All I could see from my other house were other people's houses and I didn't realise at the time how much it bothered me, we lived there for a long time and I can't believe I didn't realise it was part of the reason I wasn't happy!
What can you see and do you like it or does it bother you?

@NinaLively Durham?

I can see the back of my neighbours house 🙈 I would love a more natural view! Some of these sound beautiful

Nope not Durham (sorry feel like I'm hijacking the thread now!).

@JustAnotherHappyFatty from my lounge I see two bridges across a river. the city on the opposite side of the river. the iconic hill of said city. the surrounding fields and countryside. the yachts sailing on the river from my village and dont forget the stunning sunsets!!!!

jaundicedoutlook · 02/11/2024 09:23

All the bastard leaves that need blowing and raking and getting rid of in the back garden. They’re impossible to keep on top of at this time of year!

Rebecccca · 02/11/2024 09:33

a hill with ancient woodland to my left, to my right is a hill with twinkling house lights at night and typical cotswold stone houses during the day. I love the seasonal changes, everything looks so different in autumn, spring and covered in snow. The snow particularly hides the fact our little house needs a ton of work.

I live in London, but we happen to live on a road which has a railway line and no houses on the opposite side, so the view from my living room is the top of our bike shed, our hedge and then the chestnut trees running along the railway line which have just lost the last of their leaves.

It's a bit of a win win as the railway doesn't disturb us at all (other than maybe one night every year or so when they do overnight works and get the angle grinder out 3am)>

Iwantabrightsunnyday · 02/11/2024 10:38

From back and front, cascading greenery and just a single house perched on the hills. I basically live in a great deal for the SE and have the lowest mortgage for here, when God gives, He gives

KimberleyClark · 02/11/2024 10:40

Just trees and houses. Nothing remarkable. But it’s very familiar and dear to me. I always hear the dogs across the road going for their walk, they are so excited bless them.

HansHolbein · 02/11/2024 10:41

Nothing but rolling fields. It’s beautiful. It’s silent, apart from the sheep, the birds, and the fountain. Just how I like it.

Nannyfannybanny · 02/11/2024 10:43

All sounds lovely, I can see our car! Positioned in the middle of the driveway,so the dogs don't bark at all the other dogs going past, houses but if you look to the right,in the next road is The South Downs, there are farms 2 roads away.

AutumnLeaves24 · 02/11/2024 10:49

Oh this is making me sad, missing the beautiful locations I've lived in.🥲

(alps, distant mountain, ski runs, touching distance if cable cars, mountain water runs, sea, old towns (very old) farming fields, & many more)

now, where seated, tree tops & sky, but standing at the window, the end of gardens backing onto mine, their roofs & sky. It's pleasant enough, but a million miles from
life before. Quite depressing.

Feellikeafailurenow · 02/11/2024 10:56

I am surrounded by houses so view from the front and back is other houses but we are close to nature reserves and parks and nice walks and ultimately we are close to the school i got my oldest in on a placing request and moved here to get my others in. I love my house - internally the layout, how bright it was and location works - hated our old house and my compromise here is clearly how overlooked we are but it’s not as bad as i worried about.

onwardandupwards · 02/11/2024 11:03

I can see the neighbours opposite sat on chairs on their driveway in their dressing gowns drinking something from mugs whilst yelling to someone a few doors down about how chilly it is. Everyone else's views sound lovely!

JustAnotherHappyFatty · 02/11/2024 11:10

Some of these sound glorious!
I have weirdly never coveted a sea view, everything is too flat I think. I need hills and trees and a lot of green.
I love a day out to our nearest city but I almost feel claustrophobic by the end as the buildings are so high and I can't see anything but buildings.
I sometimes wonder what its like living in a huge city, I know some people love city living but I think I would be very unhappy.

I can see the sea, sometimes we get to watch dolphins, always lots of boats. It's a bit grey and misty today still love it though.

nokidshere · 02/11/2024 11:15

I'm sitting on my sofa and can see our lovely crab Apple tree in the front with lots of apples on it and birds eating them. I can see the side of a house across the road, the top of my son's car and lots of green, gold and red trees. I'm not rural, I'm in a cul de sac on a new build estate just out of town. It's as quiet as a mouse!

Ambienteamber · 02/11/2024 11:16

Yes it bothers me! I do pick houses based on views.
Live in a valley and the houses I've lived in here have all had incredible views.
The houses I've lived in elsewhere have had incredible views too.. over the city etc
Once I did choose a house which did not have a good view it just looked out on the flat at an identical house and this was from ever window. It did make me miserable so I've made sure I take into account views since then.

Ambienteamber · 02/11/2024 11:21

In our current house from the back, which includes the living room, our bedroom and my sons room.. you can see out across a valley. We are at the top of the valley so the view is very beautiful both day and night. You can see the town and winding river at the bottom and then the moorland at the top over the other sides of the valley.
At the front it's directly onto a road however over the road is woodland no houses and often see deer during the summer.

LikeWhoUsesTypewritersAnyway · 02/11/2024 11:26

We see the cottages opposite out of the window of our sitting room. But as we are a large corner plot 'on the end' of a row of cottages, we see the hills and fields and woodlands out of the side windows (that is the kitchen, and 2 bedrooms.)

DrivingThePlot · 02/11/2024 11:28

The neighbours' houses, and a field with horses. There's been a little foal this year who has been lovely to watch.

The best view is from our upstairs bedroom. I can see woodland and, beyond that, the sea. We're about 5 mins walk from the cliffs.

AnchorWHAT · 02/11/2024 11:29

I can see our patio and garden and beyond that are a row of house roofs and a view over the estuary which is so changeable depending on the tide or the colour of the sky, even better view from upstairs.

LorettyTen · 02/11/2024 11:29

Our sitting room is at the back. We have French windows so I can see our back garden. I have a bird bath so I watch the birds playing about and we have a squirrel who visits and stares at us from the fence. My little oasis.

Zippedydodah · 02/11/2024 12:18

Our sitting room runs from front to back, the front view is of my small front garden then the road and houses set well back opposite.
The back looks across the garden and into the woods behind us. It’s all very peaceful.

CutthroatDruTheViolent · 02/11/2024 12:19

I'm watching Pulp Fiction over the top of my laptop screen which will shortly have Sims 4 playing on it, I'm just waiting for the new pack to download.

lollypopsforme · 02/11/2024 12:37

I see trees and wild life lots of green and wild flowers out of every window.
