Option 1: quilted Barbour jacket
Option 2: Borg fleece coat
Option 3: wool coat

outfit os either a dress or jeans and a jumper. What is going to be most appropriate?

Im off there tomorrow ans wearing my wool coat

MiddleAgedDread · 01/11/2024 16:16

Probably the fleece, it's pretty mild at the moment, I've worn my lightweight down jacket the last couple of evenings but i've been warm. The wind makes a big difference and it's pretty light on tomorrow's forecast.
Unless you're going to Murrayfield, in which case wear ALL the layers!!

Niftythrifter · 01/11/2024 16:18

It’s not for the rugby more for the sight seeing and shopping. I’m thinking if I wear the Jumper I can stow the Barbour in my bag for the end of the day.

just make sure you wear comfy shoes!!

museumum · 01/11/2024 16:18

It’s quite mild but grey and damp. It really depends what you’re doing.

ChaosDream · 01/11/2024 16:33

It's fairly mild here at the moment - I'd go with the Barbour

Lemonade2011 · 01/11/2024 17:08

I’ve just walked from Stockbridge to town and soaked so bring a waterproof just in case/brolly it was a bit chilly but found I warmed up walking about 😊 enjoy

coxesorangepippin · 01/11/2024 17:09

I'd have something wind/damp proof, regardless of the forecast

Myattention · 01/11/2024 17:40

The Barbour. It’s not cold.

VioletCrawleyForever · 01/11/2024 17:45

It's quite mild just now.

Is nobody capable of looking at the weather forecast and deciding for themselves any more?!

Portabella · 01/11/2024 17:50

It's mild here just now but damp, please think about a jacket with hood or an umbrella 🌂

Obviously I looked however it’s hard to gauge temperature just by looking at a forecast.

Tomorrow in Edinburgh I plan to wear jeans, jumper and a wool blazer and expect that to be fine. It’s pretty mild (for here anyway). Comfy shoes though if you’re wandering. Near in mind if you’re shopping and sightseeing town will be packed (because of the rugby).

theotherfossilsister · 01/11/2024 18:19

It was ridiculously mild this morning then got chilly towards afternoon (in Portobello anyway.) I’d take a coat you can stow in a bag easily

Don’t be a twat. Like most you do look it up. Edinburgh is windy. It can be freezing even if the temp is in double digits. It can therefore be cold.

A jumper and a regular waterproof coat
it isn’t a fashion show. No one cares
