Dental Fillings

Feeling a bit insecure with my black amalgam filings. I’ve had them since I was a teenager (late 20s now) & recently feel like they’re really noticeable despite having not added to them. I also feel like I’m the only person who has black fillings? Has anyone else got them? Do people notice them as much as you think? Am I being a bit sensitive?

I have dark amalgam fillings I 4 of my molars - child of the school dentists of the 70s who were paid by the filling...
However they haven't really bothered me over the last 40 odd years or so.

I did get a white filling a few years ago just after Covid and that has given me awful problems. Still painful at times depending on the weather as they expand and contract apparently. Really need to go and get it looked at.

I have 4. Had them since I was a teen (early 30s now) don't think anyone can see them unless I open my mouth really wide lol I know plenty of people who have them!

I have just had all mine replaced 12 of them. It was very expensive, I got a two year interest free deal. They look lovely now. I have a gold crown needs doing but it is too expensive till I've paid this little lot off.

I have a couple also from my teens although they are dark silver. I only have one on the bottom set of teeth but that's the only one that anyone may possibly notice if at all.

I asked my dentist about removing them and replacing with white ones. She said I absolutely cld but didn't recommend it if there were no issues. As an adult I've always paid extra for the white ones. I will do the same for my children with the their adult teeth.

I'm full of fillings (child of the 70s/80s when they just filled anything) I can't say it really bothers me... I'm more concerned with hanging on to my teeth!
When they need replacing I have had white ones, but they don't last as well.
