Hi,

My credit file is pretty shot at the moment and in the 'very poor' category on Experian.

Last year I went through a bt of a personal crisis ( not sharing details on here) and ended up making a real mess of my finances - multiple late/missed payments etc. Thankfully I don't have any deaults or CCJ's. I also don't have unmanageable levels of debt - I just totally lost the plot and was totally disorgansed for a period of about 6 months.

Everything is up to date now and I have not missed a single payment for 8 months. I know that the late/missed payments will remain in place for 6 years and I accept that, however will the impact of them lower as time goes on? I don't plan on borrowing any more but at the moment I can't switch to a 0% deal etc, due to my credit record

Does anyone have any experience of repairing a badly damaged score?

My DH had to rebuild his and it is definitely possible. Your positive steps will influence your score gradually. You won't have to wait for 6 years.
Experian have some good tips:
