DP is currently on the operating table having a double heart bypass. It’s been on the cards since his heart attack 2 weeks ago but now it’s real it’s a bit scary.

Hand hold here, sending positive healing thoughts.

Surgery has come a long long way since 30 years ago where this was considered a real high risk operation. Of course it's scary, but he really is in good hands.

DiscoBeat · 30/10/2024 09:52

Thinking of you OP, and sending positive vibes. DH also had open heart surgery a couple of years ago. It was so scary, especially so in recovery when he was in the ICU but he recovered fully and it was a complete success. It's so frightening to us to think about but the heart surgeons do this kind of operation every day.

Thanks all. He’s out of surgery, heavily sedated. I’m going to call again soon for an update.

DiscoBeat · 03/11/2024 00:37

How's he doing, OP?

Trinity69 · 03/11/2024 07:38

He’s in HDU at Kings. It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster! Surgery was Wednesday, he was sent for an xray late on Thursday because they thought he’d got a collapsed lung, but he hadn’t. Then Friday night his heart rate went up to 140, which apparently is quite normal at that point due to the huge shock the heart has been through. Now he seems to be perking up a little, his sense of humour is appearing now and again. He did however say, if he’d known how horrific the surgery was and the amount of pain he’d be in, he would have just taken his chances without it. Thank you for checking on us!
