Neighbour issues, what would you do?

Hi, my neighbour keeps putting her bins in my driveway. She has a large driveway of her own. I've asked her very politely three times not to. Last time, she told me to f* off to my face. I backed off. What should I do?

Take her bins and put them on the street, every time

autienotnaughty · 29/10/2024 22:43

Exactly as above

CoastalCalm · 29/10/2024 22:45

Put yours on hers

HecatesBees · 29/10/2024 22:46

Take her bins away, and hide them..... many miles away

Yes, I've done that once but her bin is absolutely caked in pigeon poop and stinks. She keeps it under an area where they do their business directly on it. She just doesn't care about anything really.

Interesting.... hadn't thought of that

Empty all your rubbish into her bin. Oh whoops thought it was mine.

Spectre8 · 29/10/2024 22:52

Id move it back and it would accidentally fall over spilling it all over her driveway...oops 😃

Aydel · 29/10/2024 22:54

Hide them

Quitelikeit · 29/10/2024 22:55

What is the reason she is using your drive way?

I really wouldn’t start throwing rubbish etc in her garden - things could really spiral!

contact the letting agent etc as she will be expected to have a certain standard of behaviour towards neighbours etc

Xmasfairy86 · 29/10/2024 22:55

I’d move it somewhere really inconvenient. Or, you say bins - plural - I’d separate them and put them all in different inconvenient places 😆

How did you deduce she was renting?

Quitelikeit · 29/10/2024 23:04

@Icanflyhigh I think the use of bad language and lack of respect for one’s neighbours

OMG did you actually just say that?

How fucking ignorant and I say that as a home owner!

Shodan · 29/10/2024 23:13

If the house numbers aren't already painted on the bins, do that.

Then put on a pair of rubber gloves and deposit bins in other, separate driveways.

Hopefully one of the other householders will give her What For.

Healingsfall · 29/10/2024 23:15

I'd put them on the pavement outside her house, every time.

OptimismvsRealism · 29/10/2024 23:17

Put an edge around your drive so she can't wheel onto it

Ozgirl75 · 29/10/2024 23:21

I would wait until they’re empty and then wheel them far away and then plead ignorance. I would do that every week, getting further and further away each time.

BeMintBee · 29/10/2024 23:21

Put non recyclables in the recycling bin so the bin men don’t empty it.

stick a note on it saying “Free to anyone that wants it” and the put it on the pavement

Fill the bottom of them with heavy rocks, bin men won’t take them if they’re too heavy

Quitelikeit · 29/10/2024 23:22

I’m not sure why you find that offensive? I mean if you buy a property you definitely want to get along with your neighbours

Whereas if you are there for the short term eg renting etc you might not really care about your neighbours

I accept you could still own your home and be unpleasant towards your neighbours

No offence intended at all

DeliciousApples · 29/10/2024 23:24

Why is she doing that? Is it a shared drive?

Well it was offensive to at least 35% of the UK population 😳

Alternatively if you buy a property you can do what the hell you like knowing that your home is secure.

Renters live on tenterhooks knowing the slightest perceived transgression could result in them being evicted or 'told off'

I've owned a property for 5 years and rented for 25 years. I was far far more stressed about good neighbour relations as a tenant than as an owner occupier (not that I would do anything that would negatively impact them anyway)

There's aresehiles everywhere irrespective of property ownership status

FriendlyFriend · 30/10/2024 00:18

Put up a boundary between the front gardens? Eg a fence

FloofPaws · 30/10/2024 01:22

Phone the council and see if they collect rogue bins someone has left on your driveway
