Away on holiday in the UK and this morning when I was getting changed I noticed a small bite on my leg. Wasn’t really bothering me or itching but as the day has gone on it has now turned into this. It’s very hot, and slightly painful when walking on that leg. I have attached a picture of my “normal” leg to show the swelling

Get 1% hydrocortisone cream (you can buy it) and antihistamines, take one and put the cream on. Draw a line round it, if it extends beyond the boundary a lot tomorrow or tracks in a line go and get it looked at.

I get bitten all the time, they go like that, and usually the above brings them back down again. Once in a blue moon it doesn't, then I get antibiotics.

Dh gets like that any time he gets bitten. It lasts a few days and then goes down.

If I have a bite like that then I may need antibiotics.
I've been bitten twice by the Blandford Fly. It's small, goes for the ankles, and first thing I know is when I see the blood. One time I was swollen from my toes to my knee. Those ones have both needed antibiotics.

I get bites like that from (I think) horseflies - so painful and swollen but mine always go down within about 3-5 days. I second @Kleptronic ‘s advice though.

If you are concerned, you should go to the doctors or pharmacy.

I find when I react to bites, one of the best things is the hottest water that is comfortable for the skin with a big slug of salt in it. Give it 48 hours and if it doesn't improve show your pharmacist.
