I have just had a very long consultation (c.1 hour) with a senior medical professional during which she must have said "Do you know what I mean?" literally over a hundred times. It was at the end of almost every sentence. This was the second time I've met her and I don't remember it being an issue the first time, but I was just about ready to scream, "Yes, I know what you mean!!" after the 75th utterance. (She also kept using my name and the phrase, "As we get older," which somehow came across as very patronising.)

Anyone else had a similar experience with someone who can't stop repeating the same phrase until you want to rip your own ears off?
