Foreign trained doctors moving to the UK

Just curious if anyone knows of Australian doctors who have moved to the UK to work in the NHS?

Only reason I ask is that I see lots of NHS doctors moving to work in Australia.

However in other circles I've actually met quite a few Australians who have moved to the UK. These people have corporate/office jobs and they wanted the lifestyle change of the UK compared to Australia. Also they've said being near Europe is great so they can take short trips.

A former neighbour was Australian qualified and practiced in the U.K. Generally if the GMC assesses and considers a foreign qualification acceptable then the individual will be eligible to sit the PLAB exam and apply for GMC registration.

I think one of the problems behind doctor shortages in the U.K. isn’t that there are too many vacancies, but that NHS Trusts don’t have funding or authority to recruit. I have two friends who qualified in the U.K who’ve struggled to find a position in their specialism. Overseas medics are going to have the same blockage.

DH is a doctor and has had several Australian colleagues over the years but they were only here temporarily. Doctors in Australia will earn twice as much as here and work less hard for the most part so it isn't a very attractive option. Quite a few of his colleagues have emigrated to Australia over the years, although a couple came back as they couldn't stand the racism.

Wait. The racism? Tell me more.
