How did you find a cleaner?

I am looking for a domestic cleaner - what’s the best way to find someone? I’m dubious about social media and although I can find a fair few that way, when you then google their name there aren’t any reviews.

I guess it’s also important to ensure they are DBS checked and insured but how do you actually check that they have those things?

Bit clueless have never used a cleaning service before!

Word of mouth always, best cleaner I ever had stayed 9 years. I wouldn’t use an agency because you may not get the same cleaner. You can ask for refs and paperwork and then be around the first time they clean. Obviously it’s a risk as in your home which is why personal recommendation is best. A DBS check is only if in contact with vulnerable groups surely.

That’s really helpful thank you. Good to know re agencies not guaranteeing the same person - would much rather get to know and trust the same person.
Don’t know about DBS but saw that a couple of people on social media said they had one (but perhaps it was still in date from a previous job…)

I found mine through word of mouth, but I know some people struggle with recommendations. If you're in that boat, it's worth checking out Happy House Cleaning UK. They have reliable cleaners, and the booking process is really simple. I prefer going with a company rather than an independent cleaner because of the vetting and insurance.
