It’s never, ever as bad as the anxiety leading up to it. Just think, by later on today, you’ll be done.

It's ok to be worried, anyone would be.

Yeah I know. It's the roof of the mouth injection I'm worried about . Once that's done I'm OK. And i feel stressed about the after bit to . I'm going to feel numb and swallon. And not myself it feels so different to just having one tooth out . As soon as I get home the kids will be on to me mum mum mum mum mum ... I just want to sit silently 😔

Ask the dentist to put some local anesthetic gel on the spot where the injection goes. My dentist used to do that and I never felt the needles at all.

Can I ask why you need so many teeth removed? What will they do once they are removed?

Allthehorsesintheworld · 29/10/2024 09:10

I had to have a roof of the mouth injection couple of months ago. New dentist too. He was brilliant and I honestly never felt the injections. I asked him afterwards how on earth did he do that, 2 injections and I honestly didn’t even feel anything touch my skin.

The anxiety is far worse than the actual event.
As you sit in the chair breathe deeply and as slowly as you can. On each out breath count down a number from 10 to zero. Practice it before if you can, it will help, used in hypnotherapy.

Yeah I'm going to
I'm going to ask him to do the other injections before the roof of the mouth ones to.

My teeth are awful so they are all coming out. I'm getting implants. It will take a while though because I take a long time to heal

Do you have anyone that can take care of the children and book yourself a Travel lodge / Premier Inn for the night. It sounds like a major thing to have done and some space to mentally accept it and physically heal might do you the world of good

No there's not a hope in hell. I'm already on borrowed time.

Good luck OP, it’ll be worth it in the end 😊

PeggyMitchellsCameo · 29/10/2024 09:53

Good luck OP! I know it’s traumatic but having teeth that need taken out will affect your health.
I know it’s a long process but once they are out you can start to heal, and then the implants will make you feel like a new person!
They also help to strengthen your jaw bones and also your facial bone structure. I speak from experience!
Well done on going and let us know how you get on.

I have already had the bottom ones done i ha e the clip in denture /implant. But I have not been wearing them as I should. My jaw shape looks like an angry bull dog.

And yeah my bones take a really long time to heal so it's gonna be a while before I'm actually done. It's been a long journey

It really is but honestly when it’s all done and healed your life will be your own again. X

Well done!

I need a top molar removing. It’s a dead tooth that is cracked and the filling has come out. It’s painless but I can’t bite on it as it’s not stable.
I have booked and cancelled the appointment twice now as I’m terrified. The reason being I had another broken tooth removed 3 years ago and it crumbled. It took 3 appointments to try and dig out the root which was awful. The roots are still there and growing out now and I’m not yet ready to go through all that again!

You are so much braver than I am. Try and rest best you can.

All my teeth crumbled as he took them out . He took trays. And said all ok. That's worst bit over with for now.

Sorry it did not go well for you. My dentist said if a bit of root got left it would die off . Glad your sorted now though

Why is it that my 8 year old can just chill and leave me alone . But yet my 17 year old is proper in my face . I'm dribbling blood. Chocking on my own saliva. I can't talk. And he's in my face. That was not a real question by the way.

Augustus40 · 30/10/2024 09:24

I always take homeopathic arnica after dental treatment. Works a treat but very few believe in it.

Allthehorsesintheworld · 30/10/2024 09:31

You’ve done so well. I only had to have one molar removed as filling had dropped out, tooth was cracked. Felt sorry for the dentist who had me shaking sitting in his chair for the first time. Felt shit for the next day but the toothache had gone.
Take painkillers every 4 hours, don’t wait for the effects to wear off.
And I’m afraid teenagers can just be idiots at times but come good in the end.
