Do any of you have any good remedies for scratchy vests?

I asked for strappy vests in different colours for a birthday present and received a lot of them, which is great! I wear them all the time, wardrobe staple.

The ones from Asda from my friend are irritating my skin. They're so so scratchy only on one side on my back. It's just so uncomfortable and annoying, as they fit great!

I know they're only cheap and I could just not wear them but wondered if it is worth asking how I might soften up the stitching? Anyone know any amazing fabric conditioners (I don't usually use it)? Or any other suggestions?

Thank you!

Fairy fabric conditioner and tumble dry?

pinkpjamas1 · 29/10/2024 17:29

I will try that-is fairy meant to be good? I haven't ever used fabric conditioner, always heard that it clogs washing machines! I am going to get some and wash them all, together in a tonne of it! Drives me nuts.

If you're any good at sewing you could cover the scratchy side seam on the inside with soft bias binding.
If you're wearing the vest under stuff it'll be less scratchy inside out.

If they are underneath other clothes, then you could wear them inside-out.

Edited shortly after posting... I see someone else has already mentioned that!

I am not, but my mother is! I wish I were-I was just never very good even when she tried to teach me!
I wear them under things sometimes-I work out a lot and they're great for that but I also wear them for bed, for lounging around at home and yes, under things, definitely going to try wearing one inside-out tonight and see what that's like!

Is it the material that is actually the issue or the stitching? If stitching has melted it can be very scratchy.

I'd just snip any labels off and wear them inside out as largely I wear them under shirts or as PJ tops
