Do I need a sick note?

I am very rarely off work sick and have never had to get a sick note/doctor's note.

I had Friday and today off as holiday.
I happen to have been unwell since yesterday and feel that I may not be well enough tomorrow to go back to work.

As I said, I'm rarely off sick and I have a vague memory that if you are off for 5 days you need a note. Tomorrow would be the 5th day if I count the two days holiday and weekend (not a normal working day). I don't know if that means I need a note but to be honest I'm not even sure how I'd get to the surgery as I'm feeling dizzy and unbalanced. Can't walk or drive in this state.

Im a civil servant if that helps. I should probably look it up on the intranet but I know I'll see urgent emails/Teams chats and get sucked in.

You can self-certify for 7 calendar days - just follow your absence procedures about who to inform etc and that you're self-certifying.

It's 7 days of sickness including weekends.

No, tomorrow would be your first day off sick. If you are still off sick by Tuesday next week, you would need a sick note.

Yep, as everyone else says - you self certify for the first 7 days and then you need a sick note. Feel better soon, OP. There's some nasty bugs circulating at the minute, almost everyone I know IRL is poorly.

Take it easy and look after yourself.

Thank you. The thought of trying to get to the surgery was too much to contemplate!

Back to bed!
