I am awake. I slept earlier in the day so not that tired in the night. I got up around 1am after sleeping for about 2 hours.

Mercury2702 · 28/10/2024 03:09

Sons step mum dropped him off at home announcing they had had norovirus symptoms today, an hour later son projectiling, no bedding left and we’re 6 hours in 😬 absolutely shattered. I’m also a nurse so I’ll probably get it and won’t be able to go work this week so fabulousssss

Stressedgiraffe · 28/10/2024 03:09

@Faye3by its crap isn't it. I'm currently half watching SEAL team on now and doing some work.
Got a hot chocolate so don't know if that I'll keep me awake or put me to sleep

We have a sickness bug in the house, so made LO’s bed for the 3rd time, now laying awake wondering if I have stomach cramps or not. Could really do without catching it myself.

namechange1986 · 28/10/2024 03:33

I've been awake since 3 for no logical reason.

ihaveadream42 · 28/10/2024 03:37

3.5 year old woke up. Settled him in our bed and then went into the spare room and started to scroll. Schoolboy error!

Anyone have any Horlicks?
Sounds old fashioned but it DOES work.
I'm just about to have one...

Petitchat · 28/10/2024 03:44

Sorry @ihaveadream42

That post was meant to all ..........

GiveMeAbitOfSugar · 28/10/2024 03:45

Theres a similar thread tonight. Shame we cant join the two together

Im awake because my routine is buggered !
No other reason

MyOtherCarisAVauxhallZafira · 28/10/2024 03:45

I'm at PILs - used to a super king bed and in a standard double with 6'4 DH , only here for one night!

ETA if I get this at home I get up and make a warm drink or go and read in the spare bedroom (or both) which usually does the trick, but don't want to disturb anyone or their dogs!

Oneblindmouse · 28/10/2024 03:49

I am awake because I woke up to go to the toilet and can't get back to sleep for worrying about a job done in my bathroom yesterday which has gone horribly wrong.

whatsoccuringnow · 28/10/2024 03:52

I'm awake with an erupted wisdom tooth. Painkillers are making very little difference it's so painful I could cry. Can't get an emergency dentist app anywhere 😫

Mummsymummsy · 28/10/2024 03:52

@Petitchat horlicks, I used to have that when I couldn’t sleep as a child. Can you make me one please?!!!😅

I’m wide awake thinking about plasma cells, factor levels in assay tests and a patient who’s just delivered a baby who’s haemophilia B and needs urgent factor treatment. (Too much info for this time of night/day…🙈) trying to figure out how to get a drug urgently that’s not got its licence yet. I’ll deal with that in a few hours.
Now I’ve put the TV on and watching Gail Platt from Corrie propose to her con artist hubby Jerry. That woman never learns….surely this has to be Husband number 10 coming up, 🤔💭

Popcorn63 · 28/10/2024 03:57

I'm awake, because it's afternoon in Australia 🙂
Spent the morning helping to butcher a Samba deer, so I'm now sitting down with a coffee and catching up on Mumsnet.

Mummsymummsy · 28/10/2024 03:59

@whatsoccuringnow do you have any whisky or brandy? If so, soak it on some cotton wool and put it on your tooth/bite onto it.
It sounds mad, but I had the same thing/still have it, as it’s taking ages to fully pop through my gum.
brandy does really help. Don’t go too mad though, you won’t want to get up in the morning!!
I hope it eases for you. Wisdom teeth are horrible.
im 48 and said to my dentist, I didn’t realise you could get them so late in life. I was told people in their 90’s still get them coming through! 🙈

whatsoccuringnow · 28/10/2024 04:04

I don't but I have anbesol which just seems to dissappear when I dab it on with my finger so I'll try the cotton with it instead! Yes I'm 42. It's been threatening for ages and had cone through a few weeks ago. I have an appointment for Thursday to get it checked but I think it's become infected in the meantime or moved or something but the pain is crazy. It's making my throat sore too. At least its a bank holiday here tomorrow so I can stay home!

Mummsymummsy · 28/10/2024 04:11

@whatsoccuringnow you poor thing. I fully empathise. It makes my whole jaw ache and my ear hurt when mine plays up.
its been trying to break through my gum fully for around 3 years now. Most of the time it’s fine, but I do get things stuck in the gum pocket which is annoying. They won’t remove it as it’s not impacted, so just got to live with it.
Definitely get it checked out if it’s infected, you’ll probably need some metronidazole. (You can’t drink on that, so avoid the brandy tip!)
hope it settles for you.

vodkaredbullgirl · 28/10/2024 04:14

2nd night shift, at least it's 12 hours not 13 hours.

whatsoccuringnow · 28/10/2024 04:15

Thank you. Mine usually just has little flare ups but it's never been like this before.

MuthaHubbard · 28/10/2024 04:22

I have calcific tendonitis which is so much more painful than the first time I had it. If I'm lucky it only wakes me up one in the night. It's about a 12 weeks wait til surgery 😔
