Hi guys,
I'm new here and I don't think I'm very good at this Mumsnetting thing! 😕 I have posted this message twice now in two different areas (in the toys thread, and the Christmas thread), and at varying times of day but I don't seem to be getting any replies. I'm not quite sure what I need to do differently, but if you have any advice on how to be a better Mumsnet user and actually get interaction and replies, I would be very grateful, because ultimately I'm looking to get help so that I can hopefully do some good in the world 🤞🤞🤞
I'm going to give this one last try and post my message here instead. So fingers crossed 🤞🤞🤞 and here we go...

Hi all!
I'm looking for help from as many different people as possible please?
Basically I've had a very fortunate year and I really want to give back to the universe as the year draws to a close. I'm pursuing several avenues to achieve this, but one in particular that I'm after help with, is trying to ensure that children in struggling families/situations have a great Christmas. I'm making up a few Christmas shoeboxes that will go to children abroad through one of the charity shoebox appeal scheme, and I also want to donate some gifts to the various toy drives that are set up around Christmas time.
And then finally, I'm going to buy a few stockings, and I'm going to fill them with gifts, and I will then try and find families who are struggling to provide anything for their children, and I will gift them the filled stockings.
I know that even between these three ideas I'm hardly going to change the world, but hopefully those I can help, will feel happy, special, cared for etc. I hope!
ANYWAY- all that said, what do I need from Mumsnetters? Well I'm not as young as I used to be, and I'm not really sure what I should be buying to gift!
So can you please ask your children, grandchildren, nephews, and nieces etc., if they were being given a Christmas gift what would be the top 3-5 MAIN/BIG gifts they would most want to receive? And what 3-5 smaller things would they hope to find in their stocking?
If you can please share their answers with me, and also let me know how old they are and what their gender identity is (if you and/or they are comfortable sharing that; mainly asking gender as things like the shoeboxes ask you to specify an age and gender).
Sorry my post has turned into a uni' dissertation! 😂
Oh one more thing- Please also bear in mind, despite wanting to do this, I'm not a massively cashed up individual! 😂
Thank you all (and your young people too!) for any and all help you can give me on my Christmas quest!
I know it's a bit early to say it but given that the whole thread is in aid of it- Happy Christmas everyone! I hope when the time comes around, you all have the most fantastic Christmas yet! 😊🎁🎄🎁😊

What a lovely thing to do.
I know my 12 yr old dd wants books, crafts sets, and body mist as well as clothes.

Thank you so much for your reply!
Like I said, after a number of awful years I've had a mostly lucky year this year and I really want to acknowledge that by sharing the happiness.
I really appreciate your input- all great suggestions, especially body mists! That hadn't even crossed my mind!
Thanks again! 😊

My son is nearly 3 and he loves hot wheels cars, they're quite cheap to buy.

Hot Wheels! Ah fantastic! Thanks for that. My brother and I used to play together with his hot wheels when we were young. Thank you!
