Amoxicillin Side Effects

Looking for some reassurance - am on my 6th day of a 7 day course of Amoxicillin for a chest and throat infection. On day 2 of taking these I tested positive for covid. I still feel terrible - feel sick/nauseous, very tired, headaches and runny tummy. Is this still symptoms or side effects of amoxicillin? I don’t take antibiotics very often (last time was 2 years ago) so am not that used to them. The Dr thought I was being a bit much yesterday when I said I thought the amoxicillin wasn’t agreeing with me and prescribed me an anti sickness medication which she warned me would knock me out with drowsiness! Swings and roundabouts eh! Any similar experiences with amoxicillin?!?

Sounds like a mix of being unwell, amoxycillin and anti sickness medicine side effects all muddled together really.

If you have covid then you are going to be feeling unwell - the antibiotics will not be helping that, just adding to the gastrointestinal symptoms.

Are you taking them alongside your meals? That can make a big difference.

Has your chest infection cleared up? Once you've finished the course it might be worth getting some pre and probiotics.

I think it has cleared up - I’m coughing less, less phlegm and my temperature has come down. I still have a scratchy throat but not sure if that’s covid and/or as a result of coughing this week.

Feels like everything has hit me at once! I took one anti sickness tablet (cyclizine) and am going to try not to take anymore - I felt truly dreadful after that!

I have pneumonia. And am on amoxicillin as well and my tummy had gone a little awry.

I read that probiotics are a good idea with Amoxicillin and I have been taking some from Boots. They have worked really well. I’m still farty but the rest has cleared up 😳

At one point I was sat by the toilet ready to vomit and also coughing up blood 😭 it’s been an ordeal to say the least!

@Satinscrunchie that sounds awful! I can sympathise with sitting by the toilet ready to throw up! I will try some probiotics, being farty I could cope with compared to nausea, burps, diahorrea and everything else!!! I just want everything I have cleared up and gone! Feel better soon and take care - there are some crappy viruses and infections out there atm!

Amoxicillin always makes me feel a bit nauseous and gives me an upset stomach.

I've nearly finished a course of Amoxicillin for a bad tooth. On day three I had the extreme shits in the night and barely made it to the toilet (sorry tmi). I was taking nurofen as well so not sure if it was the combo.
