Headphone Bands

Looking for some advice on headphone bands.

We're flying long haul in the new year and I'd like to be able to watch a few films on the in flight entertainment. I find normal headphones and earphones really uncomfortable, they make my ears hurt after a very short amount of time, so I think it will be very uncomfortable for an hour or two at a time.

I've seen some headphone bands where the speakers are inside a fabric, people use them for listening to music whilst sleeping so I'm assuming they would be more comfortable.

But I'm not sure whether they would be suitable for using with the in flight entertainment system? Can you connect wirelessly to the in flight entertainment, or are there versions of the headphone bands that can be connected with a wire to the system?

Would appreciate any advice or recommendations from people who have used them for this purpose. Thanks 😃

I have headband earphones. Couldn't you just connect to your phone? Or is it because you want to listen to the in-flight entertainment?

In ear and on ear headphones are seriously uncomfortable, but I find the traditional over ear headphones very comfy. I have an old pair of Bose and a newer Mpow pair I could wear both for several hours.
The issue with the head band ones are poor sound quality, and sound 'leakage' meaning they're likely to drive your neighbour mad! Ideally on a fight you'll want noise cancelling ones.
Providing you get ones with the aux Jack and not blue tooth you should be able to plug into the inflight entertainment system. Some older planes need the aux. Jack adapter (two prong ones) which you can buy for a couple of quid off Amazon.

@DilemmaDelilah I want to be able to listen to the inflight entertainment.

@averitablevampire I've got some normal over ear headphones but still find them really uncomfortable, which is why I thought the headband style might be better. I can only see wireless ones though. Not to worried about sound leakage as I'll be sat next to DH who either won't hear or won't care!

You can get ones which are wired ones, but I don't know if you can get noise cancelling ones. The sleep phones do wired, there is also a sports brand one which my dd has, she's asleep now, but I'll ask her tomorrow what they're called, she prefers wires to blue tooth when she's out running, I think blue tooth loses connection on audiobooks.

Just remembered to ask dd re headphones
She has SBS headphones. She says she finds them comfortable, she uses an extension auxiliary cable with them, as the cable is a bit short (for her) they don't have noise cancellation. Sound quality is okay, not tinny, but not heavy on base.
Hope that helps.
