Does anyone else hate busy restaurants?

I'm not sure If I'm just being miserable but last night me and partner went for a meal and it was awful.
Squashed in like sardines (the 2 person tables ) well it was one big table with two seats facing each other then a tiny gap then the other couple.
Wasn't enough room to even out our bags next to us.
Could hear everything other couple were saying.
The restaurant was so noisy we couldn't even hear ourselves think.

Love going for food if it's a nice quiet place where we can actually enjoy it.
Also hate people watching me eat and the woman opposite was literally in my mouth.

Is this just me ?

Yes, it's my idea of hell. I hate those two-person tables that are squashed so close to the next table. But, I imagine they really need to fill the place at those peak times, because people are eating out less than before, and business and staffing costs can be unaffordable for so many businesses.

Not just you.

Not so much the busyness but yes about the small tables with only a few inches between for people to squeeze in/out - you have to hold on to your glass so it's not swept off the table!
